Arrival Story:
About a year after my first dog died. My wife knew I would like to get another. So we went down to the Washington County Humane Society and looked around and Shy stood out BIG time. Her blue eyes and beautiful coat, I knew she was the one. But when I finished signing the papers and they brought her out to me, she acted like she wanted NO part of me. (We think she may have been abused. The W.C.H.S. said that they thought she was fixed and house trained. Well the first night home she pooped and peed on the carpet and 2 months later she went into heat. Oh well...But the first 6 months with her were VERY trying. She wouldn't bark, or play and if a voice was raised even in excitement, she was GONE. And if we would run to the store, she would open our double door pantry and pull EVERYTHING out of it that was within reach. We even put a huge trunk in front of the door, she moved it and got in, but then we walked in. It's kinda funny now, cause she didn't know what to do. But after a while, 6 months our daughter got her to start playing and then the barking came. BOY did it come. After her starting out as the dog from hell, she turned out to be a GREAT dog. VERY protective too. She didn't like my father-in-law. He'd tease her or mess with my daughter and Shy, not knowing they were having fun, didn't like it. And one day, he turned his back on her and she got him in the butt. I thought it was REALLY funny. He didn't. And no, I didn't repremand her. He deserved it. On 2/25/01? (she had got pregnant from our neighbors sneaky Rottwieler(sp)) she gave birth to 7 beautiful puppies. We kept 2 of them. Elmo and Zoe. Zoe is my wife's dog. But last month, Shy passed away. Just one day, she acted REALLY bad as something was terribly wrong. I stayed with her thru the night. I closed my eyes for about an hour and a 1/2 and when I woke up, she was gone. The closest thing to this being okay, was I didn't have to put her down. She died at home with me next to her. I still miss her so much. She was a GREAT dog.
