My Momma has been super duper busy lately. She finally got a teaching job, whew! We'd all been holdin' our breath on that one. But I have to say now that she has this job she has less and less time for little ole me. Oh and even get me started on Howie, whatever! Can you believe she got a new dog, like I wasn't enough for her and now he's come along and is horning in on all my love and affection. Not that Momma got a lot of love from me, but still it's the principle behind the matter. It's a new freakin' dog! In my house! In my house!
He takes up all of my spots on the sofa, in the bed, not to mention he sneaks my food. As every dog knows even though we eat a few kibble at a time away from the bowl doesn't mean we're done completely. He's perfectly welcome to the leftovers, but he doesn't even give me a chance to eat in the first place. Then he hogs the rawhide, which he eats like it's candy. And yet he still feels the need after all that, to steal my toys! Not that I play with them on a regular basis, but again, it's the principle of the matter.
Needlesstosay I'm not at all happy with the canine, I won't even dignify him with a name. You know I'm a pretty modern day conservative girl, modest when necessary, which is always, it just galls me that he gets the urge to sniff and lick my butt whilst I'm doing my business, I mean really, how uncouth. And has Momma told you guys? He likes to eat poop! Eeeeeewwwwww! Nasty!
So I'll leave you all now while I wander around the apartment looking for treats and such. I can do that now since the hooligan is locked up in the kitchen, where I can taunt him for my very own amusement, hehehehe. 'Til next time.

For Zoe, From Momma:
Most of my family thinks I'm absolutely crazy, but the truth is that having never grown up with a dog, Zoe has become my light. From the very first day she warmed my heart with her sweet face, sleepy yawns, and even the howls of loneliness from her bed when she was just inches away from me. I had thought Zoe would become a docile toy dog, boy was I wrong.
As a new dog owner I treated Zoe like a human and she believes she's still one today, mainly of the security guard variety. An alpha dog through and through, no matter whose home she's in/visiting she makes her presence known to everyone: strangers, family and friends alike.
Even if she's not sitting on most of the family's good side the things that make me love her more and more are the times when we are together alone, just hanging out, watching tv with her snuggled between my hips and the couch cushions or cradled in a blanket with her head thrown back so I can scratch her neck or our morning and evening play sessions where she actually lies on her back and lets me rub her belly.
My mother asked me the most horrid question one day, what would I do if something were to happen; after getting over the shock and covering Zoe's ears I told her I'd be lost without her, regardless of the fact she's not the social butterfly I had envisioned those 4+ years ago she's my baby, my heart, warts and all. Momma and I went back home to Louisiana these past two weeks. Cousin Emily graduated high school. It's been pretty eventful I must say.
Before I forget, Momma wants me to call everyone's attention to some new family member pages we added, don't know why I mean I am the alpha dog of this pack, but whatever. I added some pages of my cousins. Some are missing, Sammy, Smokey & Bandit, because we didn't have that many or any pics of them, but we are working on it, I promise.
So Momma and I drove into Marksville, made good time too. Momma, Maw Maw & Paw Paw left me to sleep that evening while they went for dinner and visting. Good thing cuz even though I sleep a lot during the car ride I still get a little stressed.
The next day I got the apartment to myself again. Which is cool, cuz this was me and Momma's place before we moved to Texas so I like to reminisce. So Friday Momma was helping out Maw Maw sell pralines, which I tasted a few crumbs that hit the floor during the last minute batches, they were gooooooooooooooooooooood.
Saturday we headed down to New Orleans for Em's party. Usually when we go there tons of people meandering around Aunt Brenda's house. This time was no different. People were everywhere, strangely enough I wasn't phased all that much by them. Momma and Aunt Brenda were very impressed. Even with my behavior in check I still have my ditractors, namely my Uncle John and my Aunt Connie, they just don't like me, I guess I can understand why, but it's not my fault they can't appreciate a dog with as much personality as myself.
I was however slightly disappointed when the family began taking pictures and they kept moving me off the couches, like I wasn't part of the fam, whatever. How many of them have their own webpage and diary, hmmmm? That's right not a single one.
So anywho I got to spend lotsa quality time with Aunt Brenda, it had been sooooo long since I had seen her. Can you believe that she got another dog!? Yes, yes, a boyfriend for Gidget, they want to breed again {{{rolls eyes}}}. The new dog, Gustave i.e. Gus, wasn't very nice to me at first, he was barking at me like he was gonna eat me alive, but in truth he was just excited another female and all, too bad he didn't realize I'm fixed, no nookie here, hehe. He did try to get friendly, but I made sure he knew who was in charge. Speaking of who's in charge, my Uncle David actually had the nerve to tell Aunt Brenda that I should be locked up and the other dogs should have run of their house, since they lived there, pfht! Just who does he think he is?! The reason I am allowed to run the roost is because I can control my bodily functions, a skill the new doggies haven't mastered quite yet.
So Sunday Momma and most of the clan went to Em's graduation. I got to hang out in the family room and chill, which I love cuz they always put Animal Planet on so I'm not completely "alone." Everyone came back, only for a while and then went back out for dinner they left me in charge of the doggies, official dogsitter if you will. I made them toe the line and think they even learned how to doggie salute their superior.
Momma and some of the fam went down to what they call the French Quarter for Cousin David's birthday. Well David must have had one too many hurricanes, I think that's what they were calling them, anyways. He had been the bane of my existence up until this point then he became my worst nightmare. Before he just annoyed me, though Momma said he was the only one brave enough out of all the fam to even pick me up. Just because he is human doesn't make him nice, especially when he's holding me out from his body instead of holding me close and then proceeds to swing me back and forth for his amusement.
Onto the next. Momma stayed gone some days, but we wound up hanging out and chillin' by Aunt Brenda's, went out by the pool one day. I enjoyed licking the pool water from Momma's fingers. Cousin Em gotta a tattoo on her hip, which was a bummer cuz I couldn't sit in her lap after that.
While we were spending time in New Orleans Momma and I watched the American Idol Finale. Yes, we were extremely bummed out [read: Momma was bummed out] that Elliot didn't make it to the Final 2, but we were rootin' for Taylor and very happy that he won. BTW: Momma got me some new chewy treats and a Nyla Bone, yummy!
Then it was back to Marksville. We wound up that first day back at Cousin Hope's graduation fete, yes, I was a star on the party circuit this season, just check out the pics. Don't you just lurve my ensemble, it's madras from Target's Summer Collection, cutesy huh? Anywho the party was full of interesting smells, new and familiar ones, including: BBQ, confetti, & people, lotsa people!
For the rest of the trip we just rested and chilled out, my favorite activity of course. Our drive back to Texas was uneventful. Momma tried using my basket seat, but I wasn't very comfy in it, so she just let me layout on the seat while we drove home. The minute we got back I jumped on the sofa and took a long awaited nap. Like I've said before those all day drives take it out of me something fierce.
Here's to a great summer everyone! I'll see ya'll again real soon. Sniffs & Wags!
