Arrival Story:
We got Dakota from a local breeder as a companion to Ojii - she was already about 7 months old. She immediately took over his house, toys, bed and food. None of us have been the same since her arrival!

Bio:
In the spring of 2002, we found a lump on the back of one of Dakota's legs. Our vet (g0ddess) removed the lump and had it biopsied - bad news - very aggressive malignant melanoma. She referred us to a Veterinarian Oncologist who performed a battery of tests and an Orthopedic Surgeon to have more of the tissue removed from the area surrounding where the lump was. Following surgeries, chemotherapy, countless blood tests, antibiotics, tears and lots of love and care, our little girl has a clean bill of health to date. The whole ordeal from diagnosis to final treatment was 6 months. We (Dakota and us) could not have made it through without the fantastic care and support of our vet and her staff. We had a standing appointment every Friday. Our vet even worked Dakota's chemo schedule around her own wedding so she could ensure that everything went as well as it could. The bright spot during her visits to the vet were her flowered pj's that I had made for her. Everyone would smile at her in them, and the pj's allowed her a lot more time without an e-collar. We will always be grateful for the incredible care they gave, and continue to give, our baby girl.
