Dear Diary,

My - how time has flown by! Christmas and New Years has come and gone! I got lots of nice things from Santa Paws. Plus, it was my birthday on Christmas Day - I am now 5 years young! :0)

But, the new year has brought some changes for me and my mommy and daddy. You see, it all started Friday night - December 19th. I ran into the wall - literally! I ran into the wall! Mommy jumped up when she saw me hit the wall and rushed over and picked me up. She snuggled me - checked me out to see if I was hurt. She put me down and I tried to run up the stairs, but kept running into them!

Mommy and Daddy got real concerned - you see I had just seen the vet a few weeks before about my cataracts. So on Monday, Mommy took me to the vet - where they said the cataracts had gotten worse. So, we scheduled an appointment with the specialist for the 30th.

Mommy and Grandma took me to the specialist - he said I didn't have cataracts! Mommy was real happy at first, but then the doctor said I had torn retinas - I am blind! The doctor said that my right retina has been torn for a long time and that I had been fooling Mommy and Daddy a long time. And the left retina went the night of the 19th - which explained my running into the wall!

Mommy just cried real hard and hugged the stuffing out of me! Grandma cried too. The doctor said I could have surgery, but there was no guarantee that my eyes would get better - this is something I was born with.

So, we came home and told Daddy the news - he cried too! Mommy and Daddy were talking and they had finally realized that I had been fooling them for awhile. Like - I would run sideways up the hill when playing fetch in the backyard. And how I stopped jumping up on the bed - cause I couldn't judge distance very well.

Well - Mommy ordered a book the doctor told her about - "Living with Blind Dogs" I guess it has some neat stuff in it about helping me adjust. Mommy and grandma have been working with me - trying to get me to go back up and down the stairs. It is scary!! Let me tell you!

I have gone up and down three steps now - feel pretty proud of myself! I still play fetch! It takes me a little longer to play - have to sniff out my toy, but I find it!

I'm just happy to have a Mommy and Daddy - and a Grandma and Grandpa - who love me very much and really are looking out for me! Grandpa gets after Muffin when she hisses at me - he doesn't like it when Muffin is mean to me. I guess she is just adjusting to it all too!

Well, it is late - Mommy is real tired - she and Daddy have to carry me up and down the stairs for right now. I have my jammers on and am ready to go to sleep.

See you soon!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary,

Only 15 more days! Then it will be my birthday and SantaPaws will have been here! I can't wait! I know Mommy has hidden some presents in the garage - she doesn't want me to snoop. Last year I found a squeaker bone and came prancing into the kitchen with it - I wanted to play fetch with Mommy. But Mommy wasn't too happy I had found the bone. So this year, I guess she played it smarter and left everything in the garage.

Our house is all decorated inside and out! It is so pretty! I love sitting in front of the tree and watching the lights twinkle! My feline siblings like to lay under it - like they're Christmas presents or something! Mugsy keeps batting at the ornaments - in fact he got a hold of a cloth ornament and brought it upstairs into Mommy & Daddy's bedroom in the middle of the night! He laid it on the floor next to Daddy's side of the bed and was playing with it. It was a brown reindeer ornament and Daddy woke up, cause Mugsy was playing loudly, and thought it was poo! So, when Daddy picked it up with a tissue, he was real surprised to see it was an ornament! Needless to say, the reindeer was placed higher up in the tree now! Grandma said she found an ornament all rolled up in the powder room rug one morning - must have Mugsy too!

It is warm today in North Carolina - plus it is raining! Mommy is really happy - says we need the rain so badly - we have so many trees and bushes in our yard, so they all get a good drink of water!

Aunt Micki came for a visit yesterday! It was so much fun to see her again! I know Mommy was really happy! I played fetch with her while she was here! After Aunt Micki left, Grandpa and I went to sit out in the garage. We had fun again waving to all the neighbors who passed by. He was reading and drinking coffee again. I just laid in my big pillow and took a snooze!

Well, Mommy has been trying to cook and freeze meals ahead - yesterday and today - she's taking a break right now! I think her and Grandma will try and bake cookies this weekend.

Well Diary - I have to go - will write again soon!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary!

Gracious - as Mommy would say - it has been busy around here! We had such a great Thanksgiving dinner! I got to eat turkey, sweet potatoes and green beans! It was all so yummy! Then, when it got dark outside, we had our lighting ceremony - we turned on all the Christmas lights on the house and turned on our Christmas tree! Everything looks so pretty now!

Mommy got out my jingle bells collar and took a picture of me in them with one of my Chrismas dresses - I am now called "The Jingle Puppy"! :0)

Grandma and Grandpa continue to spoil me rotten. Grandpa and I play a lot of fetch and Grandma makes me special treats.

Mommy hasn't been feeling too well, so I have been taking naps with her every afternoon - it's nice to snuggle with her for an hour and just rest!

Well diary - I will write again soon!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary,

Whew!!! These past few days have been quite interesting for me!

It all started Friday morning, I wasn't feeling very good - I got sick on the living room carpet. Mommy wasn't too concerned at first - I threw up once - almost two years ago - so she thought it was only a one time deal again.

Well, I got sick again in the afternoon - I just wanted Mommy to sit and hold me and stroke my head and rub behind my ears. She would talk real soft and sweet to me. She tried to get me to eat, but I just couldn't. I even turned down my sweet potato treats!

When Daddy came home, Mommy told him what was going on with me. Daddy just picked me up and snuggled me so tight. After Mommy and Daddy and Grandma and Grandpa ate, I got sick again. But this time there was a little blood in it. This made Mommy real scared - Daddy too. So off to the emergency vet we went!

First we had a nice man come in and ask Mommy all sorts of questions about me. He left and I just crawled over to Mommy and she held me in her arms while I slept. Then this nice older looking man came in - he was the doctor. He looked me over and told Mommy & Daddy I had gastritis! The doctor told Mommy it was not the vegetables I've been eating that made me sick - he thinks I picked up something from outside. The blood was because I had already gotten sick twice - the doctor said the blood was because my tummy was irritated.

Anway - after the doctor left, this lady came in and gave me a shot! I hate shots - Mommy couldn't watch - she hates needles - but she kept rubbing my head so I wouldn't be afraid. Then the lady gave me a pill and then some yucky liquid medicine - this was all to help my tummy feel better.

After the lady left, I just jumped into Daddy's arms - I wanted to GO HOME! We got home late - we were also having a thunderstorm - I hate thunderstorms! Grandpa waited up for us - he just wanted to make sure I was okay and that we were home safe and sound. Mommy put my jammers on and we snuggled in bed and went to sleep.

Saturday I just laid around and slept - Mommy left me in my jammers - it felt good to just be a bum for the day. On Sunday, Mommy made me get dressed - I wore my Green Bay Packers outfit - the PACKERS won too against da Bears - who ever they are! All I know is that it made Mommy really happy that the Pack won! Sunday night I started to feel a little better - so I played fetch with Daddy for a bit.

Grandma and Grandpa were really nice to me too while I was sick. They would say such soft sweet things to me and rub me behind my ears.

Well, I am feeling better now - I have to take medicine everyday for a week. The medicine makes my tummy feel better and I'm eating again!

Monday, Grandma and Mommy went bumming for a couple hours - Grandpa stayed home with me. Grandma bought some pansies and we planted them around the tree in the backyard and in the hanging pot. I helped Grandma by checking each pansy plant out before she gave it to Mommy to plant in the ground. They are real pretty and the backyard looks so pretty with the little pansy "faces" looking back at you!

Yesterday, we cleaned the freezer. It was a little cold in the garage, but Mommy got my big pillow out and I snuggled in that and stayed nice and warm!

In the afternoon, I had to supervise Grandpa and Mommy - they were filling bird feeders. So I sat on the top of the hill and made sure they filled all the feeders for the birds! We have pretty birds come to our yard - red ones, blue ones - all kinds! My windbag sister, Muffin - she sits in the window sill and talks to the birds - her tail is swishing 90 miles an hour while she "chirps" back at the birds. She goes crazy when a bird lands in the birdbath - just outside the living room window! She sure seems to like watching the birds!

Last night, Daddy and I played fetch for a long time - it felt good to run around again! After I was done playing, I snuggled with Daddy in the big chair while he watched TV - something about a big long train in California. I just slept - I had had a big day!

It has gotten real cold here in North Carolina, so Mommy got my winter coat out - I have to wear it now when I go outside. Mommy has posted a picture with me in it. If I look sad in the picture, I still wasn't feeling very good at the time.

Well Diary - I guess I wrote somewhat of a novel today. It was nice to talk to you - I will write again!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

ps - Thank you Dogster for my Quirkey Turkey ! :0)

Dear Diary,

It is a beautiful rainy day here in North Carolina. Mommy says we really need the rain. So, instead of sitting outside today, Grandpa and I have set up a sitting area in the garage!

Mommy got my big pillow out and put it near Grandpa - I feel all snuggly sitting in it! It's fun watching the birds fly around. Plus, all the neighbors wave hello as they drive by the garage.

Yesterday, Mommy had to take me to the vet. It was a follow-up appointment from my physical in August. You see, I have cataracts in both of my eyes. My right eye is worse than my left. Mommy is trying to find out if it's okay for me to take a supplement to slow down the growth of my cataracts. Our vet said she wasn't sure if it would help, so Mommy is checking around on the Internet.

I go back to the doctor in four months to have my eyes checked again. It kinda makes Mommy and Daddy sad as they are always telling me what pretty brown eyes I have. But I know they will do the best for me!

Last night, Mommy made a yummy supper - she even made me some sweet potatos! My all time favourite! I eat more vegetables and brown rice now than I do regular dog food now. It tastes awhole lot better!

Going to go now, Diary - I don't want to leave Grandpa alone too long in the garage! See you again soon!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary,

This past weekend was a blur! We went to the mountains on Saturday for a picnic in Blowing Rock. The ride up was pretty nice - there was still some colour on the trees, but wow - was it cold when we got to Blowing Rock! I just shivered!

I went prancing around and was playing in the leaves - it was fun kicking them around! But - little did I know I picked up a couple of burrs in my sweater and on my paws - ouch! I tried to pull a burr off of my paw with my teeth when it got stuck in my throat! I started choking! Mommy came over real quick when she heard me choking - she first thought I was choking on a piece of food - she stuck her fingers down my throat to pull out whatever was in there - all I did was throw up, but I was able to breathe again! WOW! I am so glad that Mommy heard me choking, but I think that's why God created Mommy's - to take care of us!

The rest of the day was great - I slept on the way home on Daddy's lap in the sun. Then when we got home, Mommy and Daddy sat in the big chair and Muffin and I took a nap with them - it was so nice to have us all snuggle! We tried to watch a college football game, but I guess all that fresh mountain air made us sleepy!

Sunday after church, Daddy put on my Eagles cheerleader dress (Mommy has to take a picture of me in it). Well, wearing the dress didn't help Daddy's Eagles win that night. Oh well - there's always next week, right Daddy? :0)

It has been real nice having Grandma and Grandpa here - I followed Grandma around the house all day yesterday! I helped her by keeping my feline siblings out of her way while she vacummed the living room.

Grandma then played fetch with me! She's good at throwing me my squeaker bone! She also gives me nice rubs around my ears! Grandpa rubs my belly and calls me silly names!

Well, today is Veterans Day - Grandma and Grandpa were in the Air Force, so I wore one of my patriotic dresses today to honour them. Our neighbor, Jonathan will be leaving soon for Iraq. We will be praying for him as we do for all the men and women who serve our FREE country - we pray for their families too - it is hard to leave people behind who you love.

Well, I am going to go for right now - got to go see where Grandpa is - maybe we'll go for a walk today!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary.

THEY'RE HERE, THEY'RE HERE! Grandma and Grandpa arrived all safe and sound from Wisconsin - and none too soon! They're suppose to get snow showers Friday and Saturday up there!

Grandma and Grandpa were so happy to see me! Grandma kept rubbing my ears and Grandpa is always rubbing my belly! Grandpa and I sat outside just before supper and played fetch - he was a little too tired to walk with me. We had fun!

Grandma thought I looked so pretty in my pumpkin dress - I have a bunch more dresses to show off while they are here.

Mommy made Harvest soup last night for supper - I love when she makes that soup - it means I get lots of my favourite vegetables for supper too! And they were yummy! Grandma told Mommy to start making rice for me with my vegetables - YEAH GRANDMA! So I think Mommy is going to start doing that. I am so spoiled!

Last night, our neighbors Nick and Jess came over to see Mommy & Daddy - they are home from their honeymoon. Nick told Mommy that they were going to be getting Jacie (their yellow lab) back from her Grandma's this weekend! I am so happy - I have missed seeing Jacie and talking to her thru the fence! I can't wait to find out how much fun she had romping thru the woods!

Well, I have to go - Mommy and Grandma are going shopping today - that means it'll just be Grandpa and me!

I'll write soon!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary,

It's been sort of boring around here lately. Mommy is always cleaning - no time to play with me! Grandma and Grandpa will be here on Wednesday! I can't wait!

Daddy played with me today and gave me my favourite treats! Sweet potato fries from Drs. Foster and Smith! They are yummy! We sat in the big chair and watched the Green Bay Packers play the Tennessee Titans. I had on my GB cheerleading outfit and was cheering for the Pack! But, they just couldn't pull it out against the Titans. Mommy wasn't happy - that's her favourite team.

After the game, Mommy took my picture outside by one of the burning bushes - the leaves are a pretty red colour! You'll have to check out my latest picture!

Tonight, Mommy made some broccili for supper - she gave me some - without the butter of course. It was tasty! I love my vegetables!

Well diary - time for my jammies - and watch ANOTHER football game. Mommy and Daddy sure love to watch football. It's okay though - at least I get to snuggle with them!

I'll write again soon!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe

Dear Diary,

FINALLY! Mommy has my profile finished on Dogster. It took her long enough - her and Daddy had to get with it - into the 21st century and get a digital camera. Now, they can take my picture all they want! I'm ready!

Mommy has been busy getting ready for my Grandma & Grandpa Payne. They are arriving next week Wednesday and staying all winter with us! They are from Wisconsin and I guess it gets even colder up there than here in North Carolina.

We were in Wisconsin this past May - it was a L-O-N-G trip! My poor bum was numb by the time we got to Grandma & Grandpa's house! But we had such a good time - I got to see my aunts and uncles and cousins.

Well, I am looking forward to Grandma and Grandpa's visit - I hope Grandpa takes me for walks again! Grandma loves to play fetch with me, so I'll wear her out right away when she gets here!

Today it is really windy here in Huntersville - I'm staying in my warm jammies! :0)

I saw my boyfriend, Hanson's webpage - he is so handsome! He's one of my PupPals, so you'll have to check him out! Thank you Aunt Micki for the star and diamond! I love you and Hanson and miss seeing you!

Okay diary - time to wrap it up for now - I'll be back!

Hugs and kisses, Chloe
