Likes:
I like to carry sticks around with my head held high while we are out on a walk. I also love to play fetch and tug o' war. When I'm not getting enough attention, I run back and forth around the house grunting and trying to be cute to let everyone know it.

Pet-Peeves:
I'm still scared of new loud noises, like motorcycles. I also don't like squirrels. I bark at them every chance I get...cats too. I hate it when the vet calls me a "she", like it wasn't bad enough already. Just because I'm pretty doesn't mean I'm a girl!

Favorite Toy:
My OSU teddy, Cash! I don't even try to tear it up.

Favorite Food:
I appreciate a little gushi food mixed in with my kibbley food, but that doesn't happen often enough. :(

Favorite Walk:
I especially love a good tromp through the fallen leaves, but anywhere is just fine with me. I love meeting new friends.

Best Tricks:
So far I've learned to jump, sit, shake ( with either paw), give a two-paw high-five, lay down, crawl, roll over, and sometimes bow.

Arrival Story:
Here, my girl tells it best. Over to you.......The day after Jet was born, I read about his litter on the breeder's website. At that time, my guy and I were making preparations to move over seven hours away from Ohio State University, where we were going to college. I knew I wanted a puppy to keep me company, but the timing with Jet could not have been better. He was set to leave his momma the same week we were scheduled to move. It was fate. I e-mailed the breeder and she sent us pictures and updates during the long 8 week wait. (We gave him the name "Jet" before we met him, but we really liked the name and had a few reasons for it. It really suits him now, though. The "Hawk" part is our last name, so we added it to the page although we never actually call him "Jet Hawk".) When we finally got to meet him we fell in love. Jet was the only one of the litter that wasn't jumping up the side of the pen. He was just sitting in the corner minding his own business, calm and happy. He is a sweetie and has made our lives here in Baltimore much more complete. :)

Bio:
I was born at Little G's Pet Ranch in Walton, Kentucky owned by a very nice breeder. My parents, Little G's Ella Enchanted Thunder (blue merle) and Little G's Romantic Romeo (tri), are both such neat and beautiful dogs. I am one of five pups, and they are all almost as adorable as me.

I've been tagged by Mini! Now I'm supposed to tell you what kind of ice cream I would be. That's easy. I would be mint chocolate chip because I'm pretty, I'm sweet, and most of all, I'm fresh. ;)

BOL!
I think I'll tag Brewsky, Fungi, and Chanel.

Copy these questions into your diary and then tag 6 of your other friends.

1. What color is your collar? - Black.

2. What kind of food do you eat? - Lance and I eat Natural Balance kibble.

3. What are your favorite treats? - My pal Brewsky sent me these Newman's Own organic turkey and sweet potato treats, and they're definitely my favorite. Yum! :)

4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other? - Not yet, and I'm not sure if I will have one, because if Nutty leaves Plus, the game is over. I won't go on with it. :(

5. Do you get Table Scraps? – Yeah, on occasion. Only healthy things, though.

6. What is your favorite toy? – It's hard to say nowadays. I love all of them. I guess my teddy or my Nylabone with ridges.

7. When is your Birthday? - June 22, 2008. It's in 4 DAYS! :)

8. How many times a day do you get to eat? - Our bowls have food in them most of the time, but if I had to put a number on it, I'd say two.

9. Do you have a favorite color? – Well, both me and my teddy are gray, so that must be my favorite. :)

10. Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary? - Yeah, sure. They could be fun to read. :)

I'm tagging Sanford, Mini, Lilah, Tilly, Baci, and Daisy *for whenever she comes back*.

Raja Babu interviews...ME!

I ain’t no Lassie: Raja Babu interviews Jet Hawk

Jet Hawk is an 11 month-old Shetland Sheep Dog. He lives in Maryland with Lance, his older brofur.

RB: Your adoption was linked to your Mom traveling to a new city. Tell us how you came to your furever home?

JH: Well, my boy was due to graduate from college and started getting job offers and going to interviews…it was all too much for my girl. She decided that she wanted to move to Maryland with him so that neither of them had to be alone. She loves us pups, so she knew that with her first real apartment had to come HER first puppy. The day she finally got her boy to agree, she searched for pups near her, and I was born THE DAY BEFORE! It was fate. She called dibs on me then and there. For two months she annoyed my furmom’s owner about how I was and to send new pictures. I was able to go home with her one week before the big move, so it was all pretty easy for me.

RB: You were supposed to be the quiet one of the litter. Are you still a quiet pup?

JH: Yeah, I was definitely the quiet one. I was the only one of us not screaming and jumping up at the gate when my girl came to pick me up. That was just my way of making sure they didn’t take my brother instead of me. He is smaller and has a blue eye. My girl loved him, so I had to turn up the charm. She says she wouldn’t have taken him anyway, but I’m not too sure. I’m not that way anymore. I will let anyone and everyone know what I’m thinking. I bark if I see or hear anyone outside, I pull the leash to get to my pals, I bark non-stop when we get to the dog park until I’m actually inside the gate. Hey, I just like to make sure everyone knows I’m there. BOL!

RB: Tell us a little bit about your breed. What should potential owners know about the breed?

JH: Shelties are basically mini-collies, at least as far as looks go. You wouldn’t believe how many people call me “Lassie”. I hate that. I weigh about 24 pounds, which I’ve heard is a tad on the big side for a sheltie. Lance is almost 16 years old and weighs about 16 pounds. We are VERY vocal, as we were bred in Scotland to herd sheep. A lot of shelties are a bit skittish and wary of strangers. We like to be one-family dogs and are usually pretty great with kids. Like all breeds, it depends on the particular dog. We have a double coat – a thick undercoat and a pretty, long outer coat. This means we require quite a bit of brushing and grooming, but it is totally worth it. Another side note: we come in sables, tri, bi-blue, and merle. Two merles should NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be bred. It is referred to as “Lethal White”, dilute white, double merle, etc. This can cause many problems in the pups, with the vast majority of them being blind, deaf, or both. So please, don’t do it or let it happen. I’m very passionate about it.

RB: You live with a senior dog Lance. Do you two get along?

JH: Yeah, we get along fine. He is pretty much deaf so I can’t get his attention with my playful puppy yips. I have to bite his butt to get him to play. He doesn’t “play” so much as lunge at me to get me to stop, but I’ll take it, I’m not picky.

RB: Do you go to the Dog Park? Any special tricks you know?

JH: There’s a dog park close by that my girl has taken me to a few times. I love it there. We would go more often, but until July we can’t get a year pass and it is $5 a visit. I understand, though. It wouldn’t make sense to pay the $40 for a year pass that only lasts until July. That’s a rip-off. Anyway, I’ve met so many cool dogs there. There are basenjis, old english sheepdogs, lots of goldens, labs of all colors, and a couple aussies. What really freaks me out, though, are the collies! Who made those guys so big? They are exactly like me, but like a million times bigger! As far as tricks, I know a few like sit, stay, down, roll over, shake, jump, and my favorite, high five. I’m also good at fetching and catching tennis balls. When we go to the dog park, I choose not to listen. I have yet to complete a successful fetch there. BOL!

RB: You are very popular with the game 20 Questions. Are you happy with the way the game is going?

JH: I LOVE how the game is going. I have a couple of regulars and a few who dominate the game on a regular basis, so I’m happy. I know I’ll always have something new to read and respond to when I get back on Dogster. I like the new habit I’ve gotten into of taking suggestions for the next topic. Sometimes, they get REALLY challenging, but everypup is so smart. We haven’t had the full 20 yet. :)

RB: Tell us about a special incident in your life.

JH: Well, I’m just over 11 months old, so not too much has happened. I would say that besides the day I went home with my girl, the day that stands out is the first day I saw snow. That stuff is AMAZING. I had my head plastered to the ground the moment I got to it. Ice is my favorite treat, so to have it all over the ground, complete with mud filling…man, that was a dream. I loved it and I can’t wait for it to come back. :)

RB:
Anything else you would like to add for our readers?

JH: I just want to say thank you to everypup for being so nice to me. I have made so many great pals since I started posting in Plus Fun. I’m so glad I gave it a chance. Hopefully by reading this pups will get to know me a little better. Take care!
