Doggie Dynamics:

Quick Bio:
-mutt-pound dog-dog rescue

July 15th 2007

Being with his family. Playing with his dog sibs, inside and outside. Laying on his dog bed. Snuggles with Mom at bedtime.

He's still a little wary of new people.

Favorite Toy:
So far, anything that squeaks!

Favorite Food:
Anything. He's lapped up my coffee when I wasn't looking, and he's lapped away at my Bloody Mary because I didn't think a dog would actually be interested in a drink with horseradish in it! (not to worry, I caught that right away).

Favorite Walk:
He likes to patrol the perimeter of the yard walking the wood line. He likes to dig trenches to find moles. He prances around the lawn tractor when Dad's driving it. So pretty much anyplace.

Best Tricks:
Shake. Sit. In the back (when I take them in the car, and leave them while I run an errand, he likes to get in the driver's seat; hence the 'In the back' command).

Arrival Story:
After losing my oldest dog, Gent, to cancer, I started to look for another dog to add to our home. Knowing I could give a needy dog a good home helped me deal with the loss of Gent. I found Fitz on Petfinder, being fostered in Richmond by an outstanding woman. After clicking on the Dogster link, I learned more about him, and thought he would be an excellent match for our pet-happy home. We passed AARF's application process, and Fitz (formerly Bruce) came to us on the evening of 8/8/2008. He fit in immediately with our two existing dogs and many inside cats. I think he was definitely the dog who was supposed to come and live here.

Thanks to his foster mama, Fitz came as a 'ready-made' pooch: house trained, sits at the door before going out, gets along incredibly well with the other dogs, takes treats like a gentleman, and is very loving to his humans. We're looking for a trainer now to refresh us on how to behave as the alpha humans we're supposed to be for all the dogs. 12/08: LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF FITZ AND DAISY HOLDING PAWS! HOW CUTE IS THAT?

I've Been On Dogster Since:
