I've been surfing the Greyhound Rescue websites for a few months, then finally applied to a small organization called Northwest Canadian Greyhound League. Their dogs come from Kansas. I was hoping for a older dog that got along well with cats, and didn't mind a 'special needs' dog because nobody seems to want older dogs with health issues. I was offered both Maggie and her half sister, Zoe and I brought them home June 22, 2008 and what a greyt dog she is!
Maggie was raced in her younger days (like most Greys), then broke her hock. It was repaired and she was retired to brood out four litters. She was then adopted to a lady that was a runner, & when Maggie was about 7, and couldn't keep up anymore, she was returned for re adoption. An older couple who already owned her sister took Maggie then both of them were returned 3 yrs later due to owner health issues (that's where I came in). Mags has hypothyroidism and is on a pill twice/day and was very underweight when she came. Since then, she has gained almost 8 pounds! She's a 'princess' type dog in a nice way and so sweet!
