Arrival Story:
We lost our beautiful Golden Retriever Maggie, on May 20th 2005. She had been a best friend to her brother Riley, and he was lost without her. She had been all that he had know, they were playmates, and did everything together. So when she died unexpectedly we were all lost. Maggie was so loved, and she left a huge hole in our hearts, but an even bigger hole in Riley's heart. So after much discussion and debate, we decided to get a puppy. I didn't want to get another Golden for fear that Riley might think we were trying to replace his sister. So we settled on a yellow Lab. We searched the papers and online, but could not find a yellow lab anywhere. Then one day, there was an add, and so we called and the man said we could come and take a look. The only thing, he lived an hour away from us, so we jumped in the car and took off. We arrived at this very nice house, and Kenny the breeder took us out to see the puppies. They were so cute, there were 4 yellow and 5 chocolate. But this one little yellow one kept jumping up higher than the rest. I could just see it in her eyes, PICK ME PICK ME. So we did, and she has been the best girl anyone could have ever asked for. She didn't replace Maggie in any of our hearts, but she helped us heal from such a devastating loss. Even Riley came around, and eventually fell in love with this ball of endless energy. Riley was 8 years old at the time, and set in his ways, but he soon let Lilly in his heart and now he has a new best friend.
