Arrival Story: I lived up the street from Mommy, Maggie & Buddy. I was allowed to run the streets while my former guardian was gone. Come to find out he didn't even stay in that house! Some elderly folk that lived next door and across the street would kinda watch out for me and feed me. I started wondering further away from my house getting very close to a very busy cross street. That's when Mommy stepped in. She come got me out of the street Friday, Aug. 8th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. She left a note on the door of my house where I would be but no one ever came looking for me. Today (Sunday) she finally saw my guardian's car in the driveway and grabbed me up and we went to speak with him about me living with Mommy, Maggie & Buddy. He thought that was best since he's never there and I was pretty much on my own. So... HERE I AM! After 2 days with my new family, I have adjusted EXTREMELY well to the good life! I love it here! And I love my new brother and sister!

OMD!!! I can't believe I was selected as an Honorable Mention in the Adopt 09 contest! How coooool is that?!!
I want to thank the judges and can not pretend to know how hard this must have been. I read many of the entries and I know each and every one of the contestants are WINNERS already. To have found the loving families and homes we all now enjoy is a miracle in itself.
Thank you judges! Thank you Dogster for being the caring and loving place that you are. I am truly humbled by this experience.
It’s Friday evening. August 8th, 2008 and the Olympics are starting tonight. Strange I remember that. As usual I’m taking one of my strolls around the neighborhood but this time I’m heading toward a very busy street at the end of the street I live on. Then I see her. I’ve seen her many times before but this time was different. She was walking toward me and had something in her hand. It was cookies! Oooooh I wasn’t used to someone giving me cookies! I think I fell in love with her right then and there.
I’m a whopping 10 pounds (oops 11 pounds now) of rompin’, stompin’ pure male canine. At the time I still had ….. ahem… “goobers” if ya know what I mean. I lived on the same street as that lady but no one was ever at my home and he left me outside to run the streets and fend for myself. My owner was a young single guy and was never home. He stayed gone for days at a time and there were some elderly folks that lived close to me that would feed me sometime. The nice lady saw me from her house for almost 2 years running the streets and when I started heading to the busy intersection is when she couldn’t take it anymore. That Friday night she said, “NO! I am not leaving here one morning and find that little fella laying on the side of the road!” That’s when it happened. I fell in love and found what I never knew existed. She lured me to her with a cookie but I would take it and run off. She followed me all the way up the street that night. After about a half dozen cookies I decided maybe I should let her touch me. It was soft, gentle and I felt the love oozing from her fingertips. Then she scoops me up and heads in the opposite direction toward her house! Oh my goodness, I didn’t know where I was going and was a little worried! She took me inside the big white house where she lived and I met two of the greatest pups. They weren’t like the strays in the neighborhood that I had to dodge all the time. These were nice pups that wanted to smell me and kiss me! Do ya believe that? They actually wanted to kiss me! Oooooh and that lady… she had so many hugs, cuddles and kisses I couldn’t believe it! Well, she went back to the house where I lived to leave a note on the door with her name and address and stated that she had me. She just knew someone would come looking for me. I was covered in fleas, quite dirty and didn’t smell very well but you know what? She let me sleep in her bed! Under the covers at that! WOW!!! What a night I had!
On Saturday she and I took a couple of walks up the street to my house to see if anyone had taken the note off the door and each time it was still there. I didn’t have a collar or leash so I would just toddle along beside her up the street. BUT! When we would turn around to go back to her house I ran and would wait for her at the front door. I really liked it there. So… I got to sleep under the cover again!
Sunday morning rolled around and we took another stroll to my house. Still no one had been home. So now I have been at her house for 2 days and no one came looking for me. I was very happy but the lady thought that was very sad. About mid day on Sunday she looked out the door and saw a car in my drive. She grabbed me up this time and almost ran to my house with me in tow. My owner was loading up his boat to go to the lake. He had gotten the note but was not making any attempt to come get me. Well, I’ll tell ya what happened! This kind lady had a very nice talk with that young man and they came to an understanding that I would be much better off with her. At one point she was almost begging but he really knew she was making a lot of sense. She asked if I had been to the vet lately because I had some health issues that needed to be addressed and of course he said no. She explained she would be happy to take care of all of that if I could live with her furever. He wanted to sound as though he really cared about me and it would be hard to give me up but he knew…. He knew I would be so much better off with this kind lady so he hesitantly agreed. She thanked him profusely and we ran home laughing and giggling and dancing all the way!!!
This is how I found my real MOMMY and my new brother and sister, Maggie and Buddy . I was rescued from the streets of Nashville and a life of loneliness and neglect. I am now truly spoiled the way I was meant to be and I have no desire to go to that street much less run around in it! Mom can’t even run me off the porch! I just wish all the doggies in the world could be as lucky as I am.
Ok, gotta go curl up in Mom’s lap now. Thanks for reading my diary!
