Leave a bone for Willem RIP 01/11/2004

Nicknames: Will, Willie, Winkie, Winkie-dink, Wee-Willy-Winky.

Doggie Dynamics:
  Quick Bio:
Likes: LOVED playing ball and spending time on the couch watching TV with his family. LOVED when his sisters were young and he was the kissing-alarm-clock to get us up for school!

Pet-Peeves: Willem hated Jessi the cat picking on him or her getting more attention than him. ... but he loved Jessi.

Favorite Toy: Willem LOVED his ball!

Favorite Food: Anything! It tastes better when you've begged for it though!

Favorite Walk: Will didn't get out much, he thought he was King Kong (and once he tried to pick a fight with a huge dog, so he wasn't allowed out much anymore).... but he had a large yard and plenty of ball games each day.

Best Tricks: Fetch! Kiss! Looking cute. "Outside!" = run to back door excitedly. "Ball!" = go find ball and bring it, we're gunna play a game! "up!" = get up on furniture with me. "Where's Dad?" = Run about the house and search for dad! He was a good tracker.

Arrival Story: Willem was one of the dogs at the RSPCA the day we went to find a new companion for the family. He didn’t seem very special then, but we thought he would make a great new friend. (The card said his previous family had allergies to him. We thought it sad that he lost his family and wanted to give him a new home.)

Bio: Willem came to us as a young, enthusiastic 11-month-old-pup in 1990. He was full of energy, bounce and fun. He was not shy of handing out the kisses or snuggles… especially to his new human sisters. (Me pictured with him back in 1994) He played fetch like a pro… and had the best sooky face for getting scraps from the table!
Willem had a life full of love and happiness. _ _ _ As it always does, time caught up with him and he became slower in the last few years. He lost his sight, his hearing. Our Willem found it hard to move around, especially getting up and down the back door steps. Mum lifted him up and down and they built him an extra step to make it easier on him. Still, he slowed and slowed. Our Willem was not his lively, happy, bouncy or joyous self anymore. His eyes no longer sparkled and we all knew his time was coming. On 1 November 2004, he fell asleep in the care of his Vet Rachel, with his Mum (my Mum) at his side.
His physical absence makes a hole, an emptiness in our lives... but his memory is always going to be with us. Always.

Forums Motto: It's always a good time for a cuddle!

This is Jessi, WIllem's best (furry) friend. She is sitting in a basket next to Willem's urn & photos of Willem.
The urn is white because Willem was predominantly white.

"Losing a beloved friend and member of the family is most difficult. Grief is a powerful thing; pure misery to abide. Just remember that each time you think of your darling Willem, he will be standing right there beside you. As you honor him, so he honors you. Surely he would want you to believe that he is running, seeing and hearing as well as in his youth, awaiting the day when you will be reunited. Our hearts go out to you and yours. Jima and all her humans"
Thanks Jima and your Humans. These are comforting thoughts indeed.
