Pet-Peeves: Being left home alone for long periods of time Favorite Toy: Tennis ball Favorite Food: Anything Favorite Walk: Any where Best Tricks: Fetching the ball Arrival Story: Loki is a Chocolate Lab, he is a year and a half old. He came to our rescue because his owner found his job taking over his life, and hated that Loki had so much time left at home alone. Below is all the information we got in regards to Loki. This is in his owners own words.
He generally gets along with other animals, i have a cat as well (he chases every once in a while) and i take him to my mom's house a lot (she has 2 Rots). i also have 6 nieces and nephews and his only problem with them is knocking them over by accident (he doesn't know how big he is). He is completely housebroken and was raised being crate trained, even though he hasn't been in one for quite a while. he is fixed and all of his shots are up to date. i keep him on frontline for fleas and heartguard for heartworms. He doesn't chew on things, and for the past 1.5 years, he's only dug one hole in the middle of my yard, nowhere near the fence. I have worked with him on training, and usually, when walking him, i keep the leash on him, but don't carry it, just let him drag it. He knows the basics, sit, stay, down, paw, high five, side, come. he is about 27 inches tall at his shoulders and weighs in at about 115 (about 5 lbs overweight, he's on a diet right now though and hating me for it). During walks he generally stays near me unless there is a major distraction, but i usually see it first and grab his leash. He is a very good dog, he likes to bark at the wind though. As far as car rides, he'll spend 5 minutes with his head out the window, then lay down for a bit, rinse and repeat.
As far as getting along with males over female humans.. haven't noticed any sort a difference. as far as aggression, nothing bad at all, he has growled at me when i have tried to take a bone from him, but a stern "LOKI!" and a look, and he backs down. As far as his barking goes, its mainly when he sees something, someone walking on the sidewalk, a bird on the fence, or sometimes just shadows. He is very smart and learns quickly, it took me 2 days to get him to get his leash and bring it to me when its time for a walk. i have never seen him bite anyone, except when he was teething as a puppy (that doesn't really count though) he's pretty chill around other dogs, of course he's excited at first, but calms quickly. As far as the barking, he sounds like Lilly, he does quiet if i tell him to, and he doesn't really bark inside, just when he wants to go outside. Bio: Any one who wishes to adopt Loki must be willing to give us your vet and or personal references. I've Been On Dogster Since:
Today we got Loki into our rescue, at first I didn't know if it would work out. Not because of Loki but because of how my girl Lilly kept wanting to play rough with him. But he just took it in his stride. He is such a great guy, who loves scratches and anyone who tosses a ball for him. His owner had to let go of him because he is going through a divorce and with him working all the time Loki is not getting the attention or exercise that he needs.
Loki was born on a reputable Lab breeders farm, they are based near Indianapolis IN. I was told that he comes from a long line of hunting dogs, but he has only been used as a family dog. His parents are large his mother is 110 and his father was 130, and they were said to be hip certified. So he comes from a great background. That just re-enforces how great a dog he truly is. He can do it all, be a great family dog, and be a great hunter, just give him a chance. I will put more in his diary when I have had him with us a bit longer and know more about him.
