The loss of my friend

I am writing this for Arthur who died yesterday. He was 16 years old and gave us so much joy, laughter, and love. I wanted to post this for him.

I am still here!

Today is the day assigned as my birthday! I don't feel this old most days, but "Mr. Mirror" probably does not lie. Oh well, I am very happy, slightly plump, and stay very busing patroling the fence, going for long walks, and looking for treats. I can't hear any thing, but my nose works great! Hello to all you old dogs out there!

Snakes Don't Scare Me

Since I am not getting any younger (and neither are my people), thought I better document some of my adventures. Last spring I was bitten by a rattlesnake....I guess he did not want to play. My male human figured out why I was drooling and could not walk right and rushed me to an Emergency Room. They put me in critical care and gave me some anti venom. I did not need the breathing tube because I got there so fast. There was some concern that because I was an "old dog" that I may not make it. I showed them all how sturdy beagles really are.
Last month I went to a fancy kennel when my family went on a trip. They had nice beds, TVs, music and play time. I was very relaxed and rested when I came home. Other times I was very tired because it was very noisey and I did not rest. I think I am deaf - lots of hand signals going on here. No big deal - I play, go for long walks, and get lots of hugs. I am enjoying my golden years.
