Arrival Story:
Thurber was bred at a puppy farm that specializes in kid-friendly dog hybrids--for example, labradoodles, scotty-poos, and puggles (pug-beagle mix). The intention was to pick out a puggle, but on arrival, there was Thurber, low to the ground and none too unctuous. He seemed not likely to outrun his aging master. This was a misappraisal.

Bio:
He is named after the great humorist of the 50's, James "Walter Mitty" Thurber, who also dabbled in dog drawings. Thurber the beast looks a lot like one of Thurber the humorist's drawings.
