Likes: Attention!!! His Mom, His Uncle, Newki & Lucy & Hendrix, Food, Going For Walks, Going to work with Mom, Going to visit Granny and Grampy
Pet-Peeves: Any of the other pets getting attention instead of him, Kids, Nail Clipping (this terrifies him), People/Animals that have the audacity to walk past his house
Favorite Toy: KONG, Octopus (he rattles AND squeaks!), Rammy, Me! (his mom), Rawhides
Favorite Food: Pizza Rolls and Cat Poop (he's not allowed to eat either, but try telling him that!)
Favorite Walk: Anywhere! He LOVES to walk! We recently started using a "Gentle Leader" which is amazing! We can go on a lot more walks now that my arm isn't being pulled out of socket!
Best Tricks: Sit, Lay Down, and TAH-DAH.... He has finally learned SHAKE! We've been working on it since December! Because of his abuse history it has been hard to teach him "tricks" because it freaks him out.
Arrival Story: Saw his picture on Petfinder, he was at the Iowa County Humane Society in Dodgeville, WI. I was told when I called that he had some social issues, was afraid of most people etc...because he had been neglected and most likely abused. When I first met him he was so afraid of people that he kept peeing all over the floor of the shelter and himself. But I still fell in love with him! I took him home the next day. I realized after bringing him home and spending time with him how extensive his abuse must have been. I have spend the past year and a half teaching him that no one will ever hurt him again and trying to build his confidence. He has made so much progress that it is amazing. He still has the submissive urinating problem but very rarely. I don't understand how anyone could hurt an animal. Especially one that is so eager to please. It makes my heart break and my blood boil to think about anyone hurting him. He is truly the most amazing and wonderful dog. He has become my whole world.
Bio: I have never had a dog even close to his size. It has taken some getting used to (for me AND the cats) but he is the most wonderful dog! He is just the biggest baby! He doesn't have ANY concept of his size. It is absolutely hilarious. He looks at the cats and thinks that he is the same size as they are. It is so comical watching him try to cram his big (70lb) body into tiny spaces. The cats TRY to play with him and snuggle but the big galut doesn't know his own strength either. So they always end up ditching him. He has recently made some doggy friends though and we are working on finding more for him to play with. Dutch is so comical and loving. He brightens every day in my life. I really understand that saying that dog is "man's best friend" now that I have Dutch in my life. We have so much fun together. He and the cats are my "kids". Dutch loves going to visit his Granny and Grampy (my parents) and they spoil him just as terribly as I do! He also gets to come to work with me from time to time. At the office he gets to visit with Ella (his pup pal Princess Ella Rose) and has just met Avery for the first time. It is SO funny to watch him interact with Ella! She is 8 lbs and his about 78lbs. But he is terrified of her! He just rolls over on his back and refuses to make eye contact with her, and she just loves it! Dutch is the biggest goof. Wonderful, crazy, lovebug of a dog! Adopting him was the best decision I ever made.

I've Been On Dogster Since:
Well, my momma is back. She was gone for a little while having something called "surgery". I was very sad because I missed her very much. Then she got back and I had to be very gentle with my loving becaue she was still "hurting", whatever that means. Today she had to go back to work and I am so sad. I thought maybe she was going to be home with me forever from now on. I put on a big show this morning being what my momma calls "pathetic", even though she DID give me a new bone to chew while she was gone. I sitll don't like it.
But I did hear that this Friday is something called, "take your dog to work day" and Momma says that means I get to go to the office with her for the WHOLE day! I am so excited!!! I can't wait for Friday to get here. It seems so far away....
Well, My Auntie Katie has been staying with us for awhile. She brought with her my Uncle Randy, one fur-kid (feline variety) named Luna (she's listed in my family now) and one skin-kid named RJ. RJ is six months old. They have been staying with us since he was about three months old and I loooooooove him. At first I wasn't too sure about him. I don't like kids, but I'd never seen a baby before. He is getting bigger and we like to talk to each other. I am the only one who understands what he is saying. Momma and Auntie Katie think it is sooo funny when RJ and I sit and talk back and forth to eachother. They are so easy to please.
Well today my Momma told me that I have to prepare myself because Auntie and her crew have been looking at apartments and might be moving out soon. I am really sad. Before my Auntie came to stay I was home alone alllllll day when Momma and Uncle are at work. Now Auntie is home almost every day with baby RJ and so I get to snuggle and play with her all day long! I am really depressed. :( But Mom says they are moving nearby this time and I will still get to see my cousin RJ all the time cause we will still babysit him a lot. Maybe they can babysit ME during hte day??? I'll have to ask.
Wish I could add my skin-kid cousin to my family on here! I'll have to have Momma add a picture of me and him to MY page instead....
Dutch has exciting news! He has finally, after 8 months of working on it, learned to shake paw! This is an amazing feat. When we first started in December, he would pee all over himself and me when I would pick up his paw. Because he was abused by his previous owners, anytime you do anything to him that he doesn't understand he gets scared and pees. Gradually the peeing stopped and he would let me pick up his paw while saying "shake". It went on like this for months and months... Then, just last week, it finally clicked for him. At first I thought it was just a coincidence that he lifted his paw at the command, but I am happy to announce that a week later, he happily puts his paw in my hand every time I say "shake"... Even if I don't have a treat in the other hand! He is SOOOO proud of himself. When I praise him he does a little dance and wiggles his butt around in pride. Now we are working on "Speak" which is not for a normal bark, but for his adorable hound-dog howl. This seems to be moving much more quickly and easily than shake did. What a wonderful dog! We are SO proud of him!
