Arrival Story:
Our border collie/dalmation mix Winnie had just passed with Diabetes. She had been sick for only a couple of days when we took her to the vet and it was irreversible. Anyway, we had to go to the Humane Society to get dog tags for our other Rescue Wiskers who is an Irish Wolfhound/German Shorhair Pointer mix, when my eldest son Sean said "Let's go in the back and see what they have." Winnie had only been gone for 3 days and Iw as not ready for another companion yet. But alas he talked me into it. We looked through the cages and no one particular dog caught my eye. I was of course on guard emotionally at this point. My son saw this little pup mixed and was petting it when we were watching all these people comment on how huge this other dog was. The dog just laid there in its kennel looking all depressed. He looked like a mutant dust bunny actually. So we walked over to investigate this animal. We walked up to the cage and he jumps up and starts licking us. I am a firm believer in the animal picks the owner. It was as if someone had lit a fire under his bum and brought him back to life. Well we took him out into the yard and you could tell he was a pure breed but his hair had been matted and you could tell whoever had him did not take care of him. We decided to do the meet and greet with our Wiskers the next day to see how the two reacted. All they wanted to do was play and the lady at the Humand Society was not thrilled with that reaction so she denied us the adoption. I cried allt he way home. I called the person we got Wiskers from who I know works with the Humane Society in our area and told her of the emotional ordeal we had just gone through. I met her the next day with Wiskers again so that she could see how Diego and he got along. She knew Wiskers well because she had fostered him before giving him to us. She wouldn't even let us put Diego back in the kennel we took him directly to the car. We went inside and paid for him much to their dismay. Diego and Wiskers are best friends and the chase each other constantly on our 3 acres. They are the best match and I love them both.

I love the snow. I like to run around in it with my good buddy Wiskers. We take turns rolling each other in the ground and getting all snowy. Although Wiskers does not have the big double coat that I do he will play with me until I get tired. I love him and he is the best friend.
