Arrival Story:
I saw Riley on and immediately called the organization. I knew there wouldn't be anyone there because t was July 4th. I also e-mailed them that day. I repeated that procedure on Saturday. I wanted them to know that I wanted this little boy! I got my response on Monday and I had my baby home on Thursday. He was such a mess. His hair was all stuck together from what I believe must have been urine and dirt. He was covered in flea dirt and the remains of dead fleas as he had been dipped at the vet's office. I had to drop him off at the groomer before I could even bring him home. The poor thing smelled so bad. After he was groomed he was the beautiful boy he should be. I was told he was picked up by animal control after being hit by a car. He had a dislocated hip as a result. They then kept him for 2 weeks in that condition without vet care! Filthy, flea infested and in pain for all that time. Can you imagine? Well, no one ever claimed him, so I was more than happy to give him a home. Fortunately, this experience hasn't changed his loving, funny personality. He is a joy to have in our family and we're blessed to have been able to get him.

This is such a great contest! I don't know why mom didn't put me in before. I mean, I've been in this home almost 3 years now. Wow! That seems to unbelievable! I can barely remember what my life was like before. I don't much remember my old family, but I don't think I want too. I don't think they were very nice to me. When I first arrived here, I was always ducking my head like I was expecting to be hit and I would jump and viciously attack boots if dad would walk past me in work boots. I think I used to get kicked. Thank dawg I don't have too many of those memories any more. I do remember being out on the streets for a while. I didn't want to hang out with that old family anymore.

It was pretty scary on the streets though. I was only a little guy, about 18 months old! I was kind of hungry and getting pretty dirty. Then, something horrible happened. I was hit by a car!!! The animal control people came and picked me up off the street. Boy, I thought being on the streets was scary. But that place they took me too was just awful! When that car hit me, it dislocated my hip and that hurt soooo much. Those animal people just put me in a big concrete cage and didn't try to help me. They did give me food and water, that was nice, but my hip just hurt so bad and then I had fleas and an awful ear infection. I didn't think life was ever going to be good.

Then one day a lady came by to get some other dog and she saw me. She told those animal people she wanted to take me out. At first they said no because I was such a mess. They said I was going to be put down. Now, I wasn't sure what that meant, but I didn't like the look that came over that kind lady's face when they said it. Well, she fussed and fought and they finally gave me to her. Next thing I know, I was whisked away from that awful place and taken to a vet's office, where they took care of my hip and fleas. That nice lady said they were going to find a good home for me. I thought, oh no....I was thinking about my old home and I didn't want to go to a new one.

After a day or so that lady came to the vet's place and told me that someone had called about me. At first I was excited, then I got a little scared again. She told me that it was a very nice lady that called who would take very good care of me. She took me out of my cage and said it was time to meet her. She took me out to the waiting room which had a lot of people in it, but I looked at this lady and man sitting against the wall and I just knew! I went right to the lady and let her pet me and I licked her hand and then they were invited to come into the exam room to talk to the vet for my check up. While I waited on the table, I walked right over to this new lady and put my head on her chest and just looked at her with such pleading eyes. I could feel how gentle she was and how much she could love me. She looked over at the man and said, "that's know he's coming home with us". OH BOY!!!! I was soooooo happy!

Now I know what the good life is. I'm loved, well fed, have anything and everything I could ever hope for. I have a soft, warm I get to sleep on the big bed if I want! Toys, treats...I didn't know it could be so wonderful to have such a family. Now, I never wander away from home or my mom ever! I'm afraid of getting separated and losing this wonderful home.

So sad...

I'm very sad. My big brofur, Cody, went to the bridge yesterday. He was getting very old and weak and had recently gotten sick. There really wasn't anything they could do for him anymore and mom couldn't let him suffer. When she saw he couldn't get up and do his daily walks around the house, she knew it was time. The very nice tech lady watched me and even gave me treats when they went and helped Cody. Mom told me she held him very close and talked to him the whole time. We all loved him so very much. Our family is incomplete now. :-( As it happens to everyone and has happened before to mom, she promises the pain will fade away and only the memories of love and fun with Cody will be left. I hope that happens soon. I don't like being without him. I miss you Cody. :-((

I got to play a great new game today. I was tagged by two of my furiends! Woohoo, lucky me! Renze and Bridget are great! I hope you pups don't mind, but I'm going to combine both tags into one.

The rules are to write 7 facts about yourself then tag seven of your pals
you intend to tag. Oh, be sure and pmail those 7 you have tagged and tell them to read your diary for instructions if they need them.

7 facts about me!

1. I’m very happy in my furever home.
2. I bark at everything! (Drives mom crazy;).
3. My mom is my best furiend.
4. I love to go out in the car with mom.
5. I follow my mom every where.
6. I hate getting groomed.
7. I love chasing lizards.

Now I have to tag 7 furiends. Here it goes:

1. Morgan
2. MacKenzie
3. Peanut Puddinhead
4. Delilah, Happy Girl
5. Mollie
6. Teddy
7. Millie

Have fun!
