Arrival Story:
I wanted a Toy Aussie for awhile after I saw two at a dog show. I searched the internet for several months until I found her at Pocket Aussies in Portland, Oregon. I had to have her shipped to me. I was so nervous about her being flown in. When I saw her sitting in her carrier, I was smitten. She licked me to death all the way home (my friend drove). She is now my constant companion. She is the smartest dog I have ever lived with.

Bio:
Chia is a toy 18 pound red merle aussie with baby blue eyes. She is absolutely adorable and she knows it. Unlike the breed profile of how Aussies tend to be reserved around strangers, she gets offended if people don't pet her. She loves to come up to people, turn around, and wiggle her butt at them so they can scratch it. We call it "show me your butt".

agility class #2

Our second class was much better than the first, until we were working on "cross in fronts". I made the mistake of wrapping her leash around the pole of the jump stand. She stopped following me and grabbed the leash trying to run off with it so she could kick its butt. Other than that, we did great. She won the fastest start record for the class. Now she has to try to defend her title next week.

Chia has been an absolute joy so far. We have been working very hard on her manners. Last week she passed her canine good citizen class with flying colors! I'm am very surprised, because she is a sassy little girl, who lets you know vocally when you should be giving her attention. Of course, she is so cute that everyone laughs at her which just encourages her more.

She and I entered our first agility class. Everything was going great until she got bored of waiting for the next assignment. She started to fidget, and when two of the dogs got to go before her, she "sighed" loudly to let everyone know she was not happy. The aussie next to us decided that sounded like a good idea to him too, and started barking at his human mom. I think Chia thought he was hot!! His name is Storm and he is a 7 month old blue merle aussie. Hopefully she has a little more more patience at our next class. She loves to work.

Chia is my first Aussie, and what a trip she is. I am entertained by her. As a dog trainer, I am also challanged. You see, she is a control freek like most herding dogs. She has decided recently that it is her job to drive my two large Labs out the doggie door and not let them back in. I have caught her several times and given her a time out. She is smart however, and has decided to employ our cat (he thinks he is a dog and is larger than her) to help her. She has him sit by the door while she lounges on the couch and pretends that she is innocent. What a stinker!!!! I love her to pieces.
