Leave a bone for Hayle
Nicknames: Monkey, Diva, Sweetie, Baby-girl, Dork-monkey, Monkaccino, Monkachunk, Monkalicious, Dorkalicious, Monster Mutt, Scragglemonster, Beautiful, Chompers
Quick Bio:
-mutt
-dog rescue
Likes: swimming!, running, playing with other dogs, being chased, giving kisses, car rides, the snow, butt scratches, cuddling on the couch with her people
Pet-Peeves: vacuum cleaner, the bread machine (she's terrified of it!), and having her nails cut
Favorite Toy: Her favorite toy is definitely her red rubber Quirkies bone (by Booda) that makes fun noises - it's always the first toy she digs out of her toy basket.
Favorite Food: peanutbutter!!, baby carrots, celery sticks, apple slices, dehydrated sweet potato strips, and any treat from Love of Dog Bakery
Favorite Walk: Any walk involving a chance to go swimming is Hayle's favorite walk. Runner-up is any walk in the woods. Walking is okay, but what she *really* loves is to run as fast as she can at the dog park, preferably with another dog chasing behind.
Best Tricks: She's not big on tricks (unless treats are involved - then she'll "roll over"), but she's eager to please and is a very good girl. She always comes when she's called, and she knows to sit before crossing the street (she waits for the "OK" to cross).
Arrival Story: Hayle was found as a stray at 6 weeks old wandering the side of a highway with her sister. They were rescued from Animal Control by Animal Resource Network Inc. of Lansing (then called "Thelma" and "Louise" by her foster-mom). This was all happening soon after we lost our beloved golden, Samson, and the need to share our home with another furry friend was overwhelming me. I found Hayle through petfinder.com when she was 10 weeks old and fell in love with the little black ball of fuzz. The last picture was taken the day we brought her home - seriously, how could anyone resist that cuteness? It was very fortunate for her that she was so irresistably adorable because she was a terror of a puppy - and I do mean TERROR! In the span of just a few months our little bundle of joy had destroyed a brand new linoleum floor, brand new carpeting, pulled wallpaper off the walls, and developed a lovely little habit of barking to her heart's delight every time we got on the phone. But after much training and paitence, we all survived the nightmare that was Hayle's puppyhood. And now she's such a sweetheart we can't imagine life without her. She's such a cuddle-pup and just an all around happy-go-lucky girl. I just love my Hayle-girl!
Bio: Her left eye is all funky. It's not round, but more square. There is no discernable pupil, yet she can see fine out of it (an excellent frisbee catcher). It gets cloudy and bloodshot sometimes and the 3rd eyelid doesn't always go all the way down. Adds to her quirks - and she IS quirky!!
P.S. Thanks, Tala, for the MI PupPals personalized license plate!

Woo-woof! What a weekend! I knew something was up on Friday when the people was putting bags and coolers and doggie treats together - we were goin' on a trip! But where to?
I'll tell ya where ... we went camping! I LOVE going camping. All the smells and sounds and fresh air. We were in the area of the campground that was designated as the doggie area (other areas aren't special enough to have dogs at them, I guess) and I was a really good doggie and didn't bark at the other doggies or anything. My people was so proud of how good I was.
Yesterday we went hiking twice AND I got to go swimming twice - woah! Once in the morning and then again in the afternoon. What a day! My two most favoritest things! I was dog tired last night but I just couldn't let myself fall asleep while the people were still up - didn't want to miss a second of the fun, ya know?
On the ride home today I reached up from the backseat and gave my people little kisses on their necks to say "Thanks guys, for a great weekend." I love my people. We do fun things together.
I recently celebrated the 5th anniversary of the day I adopted my people. So I wanted to give a Bark Out to my Friends at Animal Resource Network, Inc (ARNI) of Lansing, Michigan who rescued me and helped me find my Forever Family. Love you guys!
