   Leave a bone for Rusty

rusty busty, rusters, bucky, rusty roo, buckybear

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:

April 20th 2004

Standing on the couch watching the outside, playing with his 'squirrel', bringing toys to us only to grab them right back, chasing birds he will never catch, warm laundry (especially the top of the pile), shredding tissues, and being with his family

Going potty in the rain, aerosol cans, shaking trash bags open, and all those people outside he just knows are coming to attack the house

Favorite Toy:
His stuffed squirrel and rat, which are no longer stuffed, old bones and the braided rope toys.

Favorite Food:
Any treat for good behavior and spaghetti

Favorite Walk:
He likes making a 'run' around the house and under the kitchen chairs and beds

Best Tricks:
Giving the 'what? I wasn't doing nothin' look when we catch him doing something he shouldn't

Arrival Story:
We wanted a dog for our daughter so she would have a pal, as Gabby was getting too old to play as hard as a 7 year old can. We found the ad for the dachshunds and traveled an hour and a half just to see them. Hubby wasn't convinced we would buy at that time, but I knew better. There were only two dogs left, plus the mother and an aunt, and both were males. The little girl at the breeder wouldn't let one of the boys away from her, which gave Rusty the chance to shine. He took to us immediately and before you know it, we had our new 'little man' in the back of the car.

Rusty is our little watchdog, guarding his domain and the folks in it. If either of the big folks are gone, little man cannot rest. He mounts his patrol at the top of the stairs, or looks through the railing, maintaining constant vigilance. No one will escape his attention.

It was so cool, I got to go in the car with the family and we went to a new house. There was a pug and his owners already there, so we had to wait in the driveway. That gave me time to bark at the people walking!!

As it turns out, they brought me here to TRAIN me. I guess I am a little too aggressive toward the other kids and I don't behave like I should. What do they know? I am a dog!!! Anyway, the strange guy gave me biscuits, but I wouldn't let him pet me, no way!

I hope we don't go there again!

What did I do????

Well, it started out like any other day. I got up, went outside, played with the family some, and then...everything changed. First, I got to ride in the car when the girl went to school. I am not the best in the car, I shake a little and need to ride on Mom's lap. Well, we were riding along and then all of a sudden, the girl got out of the car and we drove off! I was not happy, I cried and cried. THEN, as if it couldn't get worse, Mom takes me to this place where there are other animals and people. I am so nervous, I do my business on the floor, but I didn't get in trouble. This guy with a really cool light looks at my eyes and feels my belly. Next thing I know, Mom is gone.

They are poking me and stuff and I am getting really, really sleepy. I wake up and some things just aren't there anymore. My really cool extra teeth are gone and so is another part of me. I am tired and nervous. But then, Mom and the girl show up and take me home. I really want to relax, but I am still pretty nervous. I think I will just take a nap in the crate. zzzzzzzzz....

My First Walk

Wow, today was great! Daddy had a meeting after dinner, so I got to take a walk around the neighborhood. Did I mention it was my first? I was zigging and zagging, there was so much to see and sniff. I think I peed 10 times, just to let the other dogs in the subdivision know I was around. Now if only I could stop peeing on things in the house that I think are mine. Daddy and Mommy keep talking about this neutering thing, but I don't know what that is...
