Arrival Story: Zouave was a TV STAR!! Our local Humane Society, Lolliepop Farm, in association with the local ABC affiliate host the Pet of the week. During his TV apperance he piddled on the weather man. But I had already fallen in LOVE ! It took me 35min. to get there, but luck was on my side.... I walked in with Pluto (Zouave's first name) He was the last born and runt of a litter of nine all named after the planets. I eas the first and only person to meet this incredible dog that day. He became part of the family and came to his forever home two days later.

Bio: Most people have no idea what a Zouave is and I'm always asked where I got this name. I will start by telling you that I am a descendant of a Civil War Veteran. During the American Civil War they were the predecessors to our modern Special Forces. They were fashioned after the fierce fighters from North Africa serving in the French Army c. 1830's. Their colorful uniforms, heroism, bravery and intricate drill caught on in America. The first Union Soilder killed in the war was a Zouave - Col. Elmer Ellsworth. I knew from the very begining that Zouave was a special, colorful (character), heroic and brave companion.
