Arrival Story: One of our dogs, Deuce, crossed over the rainbow bridge in February 2003. In May, my sister saw these two SPCA adoptable dogs (bro and sis) at the Wag-n-Walk and thought that one of them would be perfect for us to adopt. Deuce's death was too painful; I wasn't ready yet for another dog. One month later a friend saw this SPCA adoptable dog at Trader Joe's, called me at work and said this is the dog for you. Now I was ready to open up my heart again. Couldn't get to Trader Joe's in time so went to the SPCA after work. Was told that this dog was adopted that day at the off-site showing. I was bummed, big time. Gave the woman my number and told her that my friend seems to think this is the dog for me, call me if he is returned. Well two days later he was returned. Grabbed him up two days later, kept his name Bogie and discovered that this dog was the same dog my sister saw at the Wag-n-Walk 6-weeks prior. I'm convinced that Deuce sent Bogie our direction not only for us but also for our other dog, Hot Rod. My cousin and her boyfriend came for a visit Wednesday. They were funny. I pretty much hung out on my Bagel Bed and tried to get them to take me to the beach by sending telepathic messages. Sometimes being a dog is so frustrating.
Last night before Mom went to get the pizzas (whatever that is) we went to the beach and it was another great time! There was a Short-Haired Pointer and this other small dog with big ears that sort of stood up. Well both wanted me to chase them so I ran and ran and zipped through the surf. My tongue was hanging when it was time to leave. I wish we'd never leave the beach. So then we drove to this place where Mom left us out in the car. She came back with these white square boxes and put them on the front seat as we drove home. Boy did those boxes smell good. After we got home Hot Rod kept his eye on those boxes, but I was too tired and took a nap on the couch. I mean, come on! How could anything in a box be better than the beach!!!?
Yee Hay! We went to the beach this morning and I saw one of my girlfriends Roux. I think that's how she spells her name, but anyway she is so pretty and likes me to chase her. We ran and ran and flew in and out of the waves. I go completely wet (Mom, thanks for the towel dry) and was panting. Oh my gosh, life is good. Unfortunately, Mom got a bit panicked about the surf being sort of rough and kept yelling at us to get out of the water. Guess she is just worried I wouldn't be able to get out of the water. Hope we can go back tomorrow.
