Check out that happy smile! Jake has a lot to smile about these days, especially after being rescued as a stray in a northeast TX rural town. You just can't beat regular meals, a roof over your head and lots of love. Jake is enjoying all of this and more. His foster mom is a dog trainer and has started working with Jake on the basics. From what she tells us, Jake is a quick-study. After just a 20 minute session, Jake already knew how to heel and do an auto-sit. He basically just has to do something once and get praised a time or 2 for it, and he grasps the concept already. True to his breed mix, Jake is extremely intelligent and maintains excellent eye contact with his handler. Jake's foster mom says he would be an excellent prospect for agility or advanced obedience classes. Dogs like Jake thrive on mental and physical challenge each day. In addition to his training, 1 year-old Jake has been to the vet for his neuter, shots, heartworm test (which was negative) and worming. He is now on monthly heartworm preventative and flea/tick control. Our $200 adoption fee helps offset the cost of Jake's veterinary and foster care. Since arriving at his foster home, Jake has been a delightful house guest. He really wants to please people. While he loves his chew toys, he has not transferred that behavior onto anything else. Jake is crate-trained and will be easy to house-train. He loves to play with other dogs and is not in the least bit interested in being the boss. Jake is a truly special dog who deserves an equally-special forever home to call his own.
