I successfully graduated puppy school! Yayyyy! Mommy and daddy enrolled me in the next level intermediate obedience class, and I had my first class yesterday. We learned how to heel and the come command with distractions. I did great with both! Mommy has been reinforcing both commands randomly all day. It sure is more fun than watching her work on the computer all day long (boooooring!)... I wish she didn't have to work and could play with me more!

puppy class week 4

I only have a few more weeks of puppy class left. I think having 8 other dogs in the room is still too exciting for me so it is hard to concentrate. But, I am getting a little more used to them so that I actually listened to the "come" command and "sit-stay" successfully for a bit without running at the other dogs. Also, I don't bark at them as much although it slips out once in a while and my tail is wagging for a straight hour. The only other puppy in class that wants to play as much as me is the border collie, and we are friends. We like to play wrestle for a bit, but it always gets us so hyper and wanting to play more. But mommy and daddy always try to redirect my attention to them and their commands. Boo!! I still think playing with other dogs is so much more rewarding than food or toys!

being alone ain't so bad

I'm starting to realize now that when mommy takes daddy to work in the mornings, that there is no reason to stress out! Mommy drops a treat into the toy box, and has me go find it and asks me to "watch the house" while I'm digging in the box. I barely look at them when they leave because I want to find that treat! The past few days, after I find the treat and eat it, I either sit around and wait, or fall asleep. There is no reason to scatter shoes around the house, because I realize now that they will come back! I'm so glad!

Auntie's house

Last night, I went to auntie Leslie's house and played with her golden retriever Star! When I first met Star, I was confused and thought she was my mommy and I bit her stomach, and she growled at me. But now I know that she's a doggie pal! So, I kept using my paws and mouth trying to play with her, and she would play with me at times. But other times she got tired of me biting and pawing and would growl to warn me to cut it out! But you know what? When I want something, there really isn't much to stop me! If I want to play, I want to play!! So, I just kept persisting and persisting and being really annoying to her. Finally, mommy told me to leave her alone and again kept saying "easy"...which I really don't understand what that could mean. What is this "easy" that she keeps saying to me? There is no such thing in my book!

I also learned how to walk nice on a leash yesterday. I was doing so good and mommy was so proud, until I saw Star and I would try to run full speed at her and pull with all my might! Once I see another dog, that's all I can think about! I wish all doggies of the world would play lots and lots with me!

My first puppy class

Today, I went to my first puppy class! My parents were very excited to take me as I have been doing great with commands already at home. But, when we went to the class there were so many other puppies! I was probably one of the worst students because I couldn't pay attention to ANYTHING. My parents tried to lure me with treats, but I wanted to play with the puppies oh so bad! Half the puppies I tried to play with ignored me, a couple growled at me, so I decided to bark at them because I wanted them to play with me! The instructor got the ok from my parents to use me as a demo to spray water on my face and say "No Bark" to get me to stop barking and calm me down. Guess what? I stopped! But then I got SUPER excited again as the baby labrador retriever next to me sniffed around, so I lunged and barked to get his attention and the instructor sprayed me again... and I stopped... and a little bit later I started to whimper and get excited and geared up to bark again... which didn't happen cuz mommy kept making me sit and kept telling me to "take it easy"... whatever that means! The instructor said that if I barked again, she wouldn't use the spray bottle anymore as it didn't seem to bother me enough to stop me from barking a couple times. You know why?? Cuz, I'm not made of sugar! A lil' bit of water hurt nobody!

After class, my parents ate at an outdoor restaurant where I wagged my tail at everyone that passed by. Little kids and adults would pet me and say what a good dog I was. Little do they know, I caused my parents lots of anxiety today. Because I want to play!!! I'm home now and I"m sleepy. When do we get to do it again???
