Arrival Story:
He was listed for adoption on CL at 10 weeks old. I work at home and it was a perfect time for me to get a dog to devote all my attention to. It was a destined match. We met him at the park and he was trying to play with a dog 5x his size (he was 10 lbs at 10 weeks old)... turns out he looooves playing with other dogs, and he loves people too. He's super outgoing and very smart but easily distracted by doggie pals he wants to play with. We love it when he picks up a sock in his mouth and we say "drop it!" and he'll open his mouth and push out the sock with his tongue, and just stare at us while it drops from his mouth. We think that is the cutest thing ever!!!!

Hi. My name is Kona. My parents are starting to suspect I am a golden retriever, boxer mix. My mom was a golden retriever, but my dad? We're not quite sure. I'm a lean mean muscle machine! I love to eat, and despite my vet's prediction of me barely hitting 40 lbs, I am a lean 63 lbs (I'm tall!) over a year old. Momma is proud! I love all doggies, and humans too! Life is good:)

Dear Diary...

More classes!

I successfully graduated puppy school! Yayyyy! Mommy and daddy enrolled me in the next level intermediate obedience class, and I had my first class yesterday. We learned how to heel and the come command with distractions. I did great with both! Mommy has been reinforcing both commands randomly all day. It sure is more fun than watching her work on the computer all day long (boooooring!)... I wish she didn't have to work and could play with me more!

puppy class week 4

I only have a few more weeks of puppy class left. I think having 8 other dogs in the room is still too exciting for me so it is hard to concentrate. But, I am getting a little more used to them so that I actually listened to the "come" command and "sit-stay" successfully for a bit without running at the other dogs. Also, I don't bark at them as much although it slips out once in a while and my tail is wagging for a straight hour. The only other puppy in class that wants to play as much as me is the border collie, and we are friends. We like to play wrestle for a bit, but it always gets us so hyper and wanting to play more. But mommy and daddy always try to redirect my attention to them and their commands. Boo!! I still think playing with other dogs is so much more rewarding than food or toys!

I'm starting to realize now that when mommy takes daddy to work in the mornings, that there is no reason to stress out! Mommy drops a treat into the toy box, and has me go find it and asks me to "watch the house" while I'm digging in the box. I barely look at them when they leave because I want to find that treat! The past few days, after I find the treat and eat it, I either sit around and wait, or fall asleep. There is no reason to scatter shoes around the house, because I realize now that they will come back! I'm so glad!
