Arrival Story:
Hope is a very special dog. She was left behind when her family moved, and the landlord found her tied up in the yard on a chain. Sadly, she had spent so much time out there, the collar grew into her neck. The landlord left her at the Savannah Emergency Veterinary clinic. The techs fell in love with her and called Coastal Pet Rescue's president to take her. Hope was maintained on pain management and antibiotics and had her wound sutured before she was picked up by CPR.

Bio:
Hope is about 6 years old. She is initially shy of strangers but loves to give kisses and try to get in your lap. Her muzzle already shows her years of neglect, but she has a warm heart just waiting for the right family. Hope would do best in a home without young children. She would enjoy daily walks and a car trip or two. Since her arrival to CPR, Hope was transferred to Georgetown Veterinary Hospital and her wound was re-opened to reduce complications in the healing process. She was boarded with GVH to receive ongoing, daily care for her wound and came home to her foster mom July 29. Unfortunately, Hope also tested strong positive for heartworms. Given the severity and the issues surrounding her current state, Hope will be on Heartgard for three months before she can have her treatment. She will be under heartworm treatment for two months thereafter, at least. If everything goes right, Hope should be ready to be adopted between Christmas and New Year's. If you cannot adopt, please consider helping to sponsor her care during her recovery and heartworm treatments. Update 11/5/08 Hope is doing great! Her wound is healed and the new fur is covering most of the scar. She has been spayed and is in recovery from her first heartworm treatment. She is almost ready to go home!
