Arrival Story:
My husband, Ben, died of cancer in August of 2007. Both Bert and I were really feeling the loss and the house was just too empty. Bert is an older dog and I was terrified that I would loose him soon and I would be alone. He was all that was keeping me going. Minnie was a special needs rescue dog. She was rescued from a puppy mill where she was a breeder and she will probably need surgery on her knees in the future. I got her just before Christmas as a present for Bert. She is his dog. She helped us both through the holidays.
Bio:
When Minnie came to us, she weighed only 12 lbs and ate like a shark. In her foster home, she was competing with 6 big dogs and not doing so well. Food and treats abound in this house and she quickly fattened up to the chubby 18 lb girl she is today. (I have both her and Bert on diet kibble with rotrisserie chicken on top). She has a basket of dog toys which she loves to spread out across the living room floor. Both dogs sleep in bed with me and Minnie trys to steal Bert's special spot by my right side. She has adjusted to her new home very well and is the belle of the neighborhood.
