poisoning

In the past hour Bailey somehow found and devoured on of my Tegretol pills. He smartly vomited on the spot. I dragged him to the water bowl and took him outside where he proceeded to eat grass and vomit again (I assume, he was eating out in the vast backyard where there are no lights).
He came back in all rompy and wanting to wrestle with Sky. When I didn't feed him at supper time, he barked like I had lost my marbles. So, I relented, with his traditional bad dog dish, canned pumpkin. Lapping that up, he jumped on my bed and snuggled over my shoulder to watch me type. I think he's rather be out running.
Protective me will of course keep vigil tonight. I know it's not his first poisoning, nor will it be his last. But I can't help but freak out every time he eats something wrong.
So, tonight, I'll think of every which a way that pill could have ended up in his crate and I'll wonder what I could have done better. I have to aim at a better tomorrow. So far, aiming high has gotten us through puppy hood.
