Pet-Peeves: camera shy; Don't take my picture! Loud trucks Favorite Toy: Ice! Favorite Walk: to see the NEIGHBOR. Taffy loves Marshall Best Tricks: down stay - will stay down and crawl across the floor Arrival Story: This girl was in a shelter in the town where we live. I volunteer at that shelter. When she came in, I really didn't pay much attention. She was young, cute, and shy. Her picture on Petfinder was awful. They had her name as Tally (automatic name program).
I was working on getting some of the other dogs in the shelter to a rescue. At the end of the week is when the doc comes in to euthanize any sick dogs or any that have been there a long time or have been deemed "unadoptable". If there is a pit in the shelter who has been there past the allowed time for strays, or an owner turned it in, they also make the euthanize list. I was discussing with the director which dogs would need to be worked on for rescue next. Off hand I ask "what about this girl". She had yet to raise her head and look at anybody. She was so shy and had no spirit. I was told today she would be pts too.
NO! WHY! She won't even look at you!
It was because of her breed. The required hold time was up for her, she was a bully, she must die.
Heart over head, I said it would not happen, she would get a chance, and I paid her fee. I had no idea what I was going to do with this shy little pittie girl. I had no idea how my dogs would accept her. I had no idea how she would accept them. I had no idea I was getting another dog when I walked in that day.
That is how Taffy came to live at my house. She fit right in with my boys, just like she had always been there. Bio: When Taffy blossomed, I didn't recognize the dog walking across the yard with her head held high, swinging her tail. She is still very camera shy. Taffy is finally learning to play with other dogs. She always loved "chase" but didn't really know any other game. The Groups I'm In: The Alabama Dog Lover's Club! I've Been On Dogster Since:
