Arrival Story: One rainy, icy January day, I just walked into my aunt Melanie's apartment like I owned the place. It was really cold... and I was so little, I didn't even know how to drink out of a bowl yet! I had ice cicles on my fur, so Aunt Melanie warmed me up and tried to give me something to eat and drink but it was hard cause I didn't know how yet. Since Aunt Melanie has cats (God, how I hate cats...), she took me to her sister, who, as expected, fell in love me with at first sight and that's how I met my mom.

From the comments on the morning update, it looks like not everyone knows what's been going on with Bailey... we've been posting about it on "dogster for people", but not on here.
About a month and a half ago, one morning, Bailey didn't want to eat her breakfast. Bailey is great at hiding injuries and sickness from us. She can be relatively sick and we won't have a clue. But if she won't eat her food, we know something is seriously wrong.
So we took her to the doctor, blood results were unusual, but there were no alarm bells. She did have a UTI. We started her on antibiotics, and hoped for the best. Another week later, she wouldn't eat her breakfast again. Upset stomach due to antibiotics was the best guess. So we switched meds.
A few days later, she wouldn't eat again. For a while, we'd been having the feeling something wasn't right. So the third time she wouldn't eat, Kim called the vet and scheduled x-rays and an ultrasound.
The ultrasound revealed that her gall bladder was in very bad shape, about to rupture, and she had either a polyp or tumor in her bladder.
Surgery would be necessary. We went to a specialist animal hospital in DFW for a consultation, and set up a surgery date, which was today.
So this morning at 7:30 we took our precious little girl to the hospital. When the vet tech was going to take her in back, Bailey jumped in Kim's lap and clung to her. It was heartbreaking. She didn't want to go... she wanted her mama to protect her. If only you could talk to them, and explain why this is happening. That you are protecting them, and that it's because you love them that this is happening.
*sigh*
She was the first surgery this morning, and is now out of surgery, awake, and on a morphine drip. It's my understanding the surgery went well, which is good news as evidently gall bladder surgery is difficult on dogs. Her gall bladder was in pretty bad shape, and it's a good thing we got it when we did. The polyp from her bladder, and a biopsy from the liver were sent off for analysis to see if they're malignant.
So, we got Bailey to the surgery date relatively healthy, and she made it through the surgery. Two big steps. But she still has a lot in front of her. She needs all the POTP she can get!

Bailey's dad here.
Well, this morning we took our little girl to the hospital for her surgery.
She was not happy about it at all. She kept looking for an escape route. When it was time for her to go back, she jumped up in Kim's lap and clung to her. Heartbreaking.
The nurse told us Bailey was first on the schedule today, so we'll have our first update sooner, rather than later. Thank goodness for that.
Much to my dismay, we can't visit her for the first 24 hours after surgery! So the soonest we could see her is Tuesday night.
*sigh*
Hang in their little girl, you're scheduled to come home Wednesday!

When you have hypochondriac peeps that love you with all their hearts, sometimes you gotta put up some unwanted vet visits. I think everyone on here knows what I'm talking about.
Well, I had one of those appointments tonight. I've been washing my leg on and off for the last couple months... it gets sore sometimes. But mom and dad were afraid I had some horrific malady.
So off to the vet.
X-rays determined that I have arthritis in my spine, my knees, and I have hip dysplasia. (Don't worry, I still wrestle with Atley, and whoop is sorry butt!) The x-rays are also going to be sent to a specialist just to make sure my regular Dr. didn't miss something.
Now, this ain't my first rodeo. I've been poked and prodded more times than I care to admit. But tonight, I had a first.
The Dr. (who up until now, I've liked) said from looking at the x-rays that I have old dog lung!
WHAT WHAT WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?
EXCUSE ME!!!!!
That's Rude!!!
How dare she imply that I'm old!
Unheard of!
