ANOTHER vet visit for me...

All week I have been in pain!!! If anyone bumps me or startles me, I scream and limp away. Mom has been mystified...she can't find anything that is sore when she checks me over, and I don't have any fever or anything like that. I HAVE lost my appetite for my dog food, but I am fine with treats that Mom hands me.
Well, Friday night it was really bad cuz Mom has a guest here and she has a dog so all the dogs were racing thru the house and bumping into me. I WAS limping on my front leg, and one back leg, and a bit dehydrated so Mom decided maybe I had Lyme disease???
First thing Saturday morning she took me next door to the vets. After poking and prodding and all that, the vet said I was maybe sore in my front leg and in one back leg. DUH, Mom TOLD her that!!!
So, of course she agreed with Mom about the Lyme disease and so they stuck me and took my blood for a blood test. It was AWFUL... Mom held me and she isn't too good at blocking off veins, so it took FOREVER!
We went out to the waiting room, to wait. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the vet came out and said I was NEGATIVE!!!! Hmm, does that mean I don't hurt anymore????? Don't think so!
She told Mom I could have a tiny bit of Harvey's pain medicine for his leg, but if I didn't eat, I couldn't have it, and to bring me back on Monday if I wasn't better.
Well, Mom was eating breakfast so she gave me some eggs, I ate those, BOL! Then, she gave me some of Harvey's medicine and then she gave me a nice warm bath and dried me off. She said sometimes when she feels bad a nice bath helps!
When we got home from work I was ALL BETTER!!! Mom and her friend said it was funny how that works... finally go to the vets and finally, the whatever has run its course and the dog is better anyway!
But, in the evening, the pain meds wore off and I was sore and yelping again. Soo, this morning she gave me some more and we shall see how it goes. IF the ice that is all over the whole world outside ever melts, we are going down to the lab pen so I MUST be better soon!!!

My overnight....

Since Toto is still taking his drugs for his UTI I got invited to spend the night at Julia's last night instead of him. Cool!!!
BUT, last time I was there I tinkled on a rug and Julia was worried that her Mom wouldn't let me come again so SHE found me some female dog "diapers" to wear. Okay???
Anyway, I had a good time there, I slept really good with Julia and we also had some quality time on the couch watching TV last night. This morning Julia's Mom dropped me off at Mom's work. I was still wearing my diaper and Mom took it off. YES, I HAD tinkled in it cuz Julia forgot to take it off when she put me outside to go. NOT MY FAULT!
Later Julie picked me up for some lovin' in the break room and I yelped. She touched my belly and I yelped again! She handed me over to Mom who checked me all over and didn't see anything wrong. I was okay all day cuz I stayed in an expen over there, but when I got home and the other dogs sniffed my behind to see where I had been I yelped and yelped and yelped!
Mom checked me again AND apparently those diapers rubbed all over my belly and other sensitive areas and they were all red and swollen.
Mom immediately bathed me off, dried me off and put some nice, soothing ointment on me and I feel better...BUT......
From now on, IF I have to wear those diapers I will be staying home instead!!! I suspect Toto put something in them so they would hurt me cuz he was mad that he couldn't go!!!!!!

My visit with Susie...

Sure enough, Susie came along right about noon. Mom did forget to bring me to work so Susie came to the house and got me.
I was sooo happy to see her, I was just beaming from ear to ear!!! Of course, Tanner was getting his hair cut so I had to sit with Susie and Chris until that was done.
Gosh, I have missed her sooo much! I snuggled right into her arms and I was even purring, BOL! She didn't put me down, even when they went into the kennel so Chris could see all of Mom's Macaws and parrots. It was noisy in there so I had to snuggle even closer to Susie.
Sadly, finally Tanner was groomed and he was SOOO jealous that Susie was holding me that he JUMPED all the way off the grooming table and into her arms. Good thing she saw him coming or she might have dropped ME when she caught him.
I tried my growling and snapping at him but he wasn't impressed. He just climbed up on her neck and draped himself around her neck in his Tanner way.
I cannot believe I have created such a spoiled, inconsiderate son!!!
Ohhh, good news, Susie has decided she is borrowing ME for Howlaween and Tanner and I are going to be a pair of dice!!! I will have some interesting photos for you all to see!!!

A trip to work...

Today Mom chose me to go over to work with her. It seems that I needed ANOTHER hair cut. That silly Toto keeps chewing off my hair, for some reason.
Last time he chewed off my whole mane just after I had grown it out for OVER a YEAR so I could go to some dog shows. Needless to say, Momsie was VERY MAD at him.
This time he chewed off the whole back of my topknot. Mom really didn't notice it for a while... she though she did a lousy trim last time. Finally, I looked to the right side and she noticed all the missing hair right on the back of my head.
Sooo, today she trimmed it ALL short. Then, she had to trim down my ears so they would match. I also got a nice bath and just a little nail trim since Julia put some stick on flowers on my nails and Mom couldn't cut them short or else she would have cut the flowers.
And, I suspect I will be invited to work again tomorrow since my son, Tanner, is coming down with Susie for a groom. Beanie might go too since Susie is bringing her friend Chris and, for some strange reason, wimpy Beanie LOVES Chris.
It will be nice to see Tanner again, but the last time he came he was all hoighty toighty with us mere house dogs. He seems to think he is MUCH better than all of us now that he is an only dog. Poor boy, I guess he forgot how nice it is to have someone to play with!!

A trip to the pond.

Today Julia chose ME to accompany her kayaking at the pond. It was pretty cold and damp, but Mom said the sun was coming out so off we went.
We stopped to get a picnic lunch...yummy chicken sandwiches and raspberry cookies, Mmmmmmmm! When we got to the pond it was still cold and damp and even misty so Mom and Julia decided we would only picnic instead of kayak. Sooo, we headed off to the picnic place.
It was pretty nice there. It was warmer and we got to look at some pretty foliage. Not as nice as usual, but not bad, either. Me and Julia climbed out on the rocks and hunted for some pretty ones. She got a whole pocketful of them which she left in Mom's car!!!
On the way home we stopped at my friends house, the lady who kept me when Mom was gone and I had Georgie and also when I had Tyson. She is a nice lady and she snuck me a dog biscuit while Mom wasn't watching!!!
When we got home Mom and Julia put all the kayaks away for the Winter. Next thing we knew, the sun came out and it was almost 80 degrees!!! But, it's supposed to get stormy tonight and be COLD tomorrow.
Oh yeah, did I mention, I had to baby sit for those lab puppies. That was the only dark spot in my day, BOL!

MY Birthday!!!!

When I awoke this morning I felt special. I didn't know why, I just did! After we all got out and back in and Mom got her coffee, she glanced at her email and discovered it was MY BIRTHDAY... wouldn't ya think she could have remembered that???? But, I KNEW I felt special!!
Anyhow, I got lots of lovin' from both Mom AND Julia, and Mom reminded me, she really DID get me a present yesterday...she got me a new set of bed steps so I can now get up into Julia's bed when she is sleeping over here, too. They work fine and I did use them last night!
Yesterday we had a bunch of fun. Mom decided we needed some NEW Howlaween photos so she and Julia dug out all the costumes and took all of us dogs AND the bag of costumes down into the lab pen. They decorated a table and we all got NEW photos, even the puppies! It was fun!
BTW, pups have pointed out that I failed to update my TV story. Mom called a local business down the road with a name similiar to ours and sure enough, THEY had our new TV so we got it and it works GREAT.
Mom still hasn't heard from FedEx!!!!!

My turn for Diary Pick!

Mom said today I was picked for Diary Pick of the day. Great, I love being in the limelight! And, that reminds me, thanks to everyone for the great gifts and well wishes!
My neck is pretty well healed now, I am just waiting for Mom to snip out the stitches. She said maybe tomorrow or Sunday. Fortunately, my antibiotics are also all gone now. Whew!
I am hoping Julia will be coming along pretty soon to spend the night with me. I love sleeping with her cuz she doesn't snore like Mom, hehehe! I was having trouble getting up on the bed with her but Mom ordered me some new steps for the extra bed. That will be nice cuz right now if I get up in the night I have to end up sleeping with Mom unless I can wake up Julia cuz Mom won't let us jump on the bed, we have to climb the steps instead. We aren't supposed to jump off, either, but, hey, if they are both sleeping who will see me jump off????
Mom ordered a new 47 inch TV and it was guaranteed to be here today. Well, it didn't come yet and she saw the FedEx truck go by earlier so Mom looked at her tracking information. It said it was delivered already this morning and signed for by "Richard". Hmmmm, seems someone got a new TV, I guess cuz we have NO Richard here and NO TV, either!!! Mom called FedEx and after pushing about 500 numbers and waiting forever, she finally got a person who said it WAS delivered to us. NOPE!
So, that person is going to call the driver but not until he gets his route finished for the day. HELLO... our TV is missing and it was GUARANTEED to be delivered to US today!!!! Mother isn't too happy right now, that is for sure. She is wondering how long it will take to get a NEW one sent to us cuz we already paid for that one!!!
Worse, we had already planned out our evening of TV watching. BOOOO!

Almost all healed...

I am pleased to report that my torn neck is almost all healed up now. It was looking a bit swollen earlier in the week until Mom READ the label on my antibiotics...I was supposed to be getting them TWICE a day and she was only giving them to me once a day, I guess because Toto was only getting his once a day like he was supposed to.
Anyway, once I started getting them twice a day all was well! The swelling is almost all gone and it feels FINE now. But, there is still a big sore on my back from one of the shots they gave me. Mom thinks I must have been a bit allergic to it, OR they leaked some under my skin or something. It is swollen and kind of oozing like a hot spot.
Mom says I must be healed enough to get a bath tomorrow at work. I AM pretty dirty and I still have some dried blood on my ear where it brushed against my neck.
Today I felt well enough to chase the chickies again. Mom won't let me stay outside with everyone else while she is at work so my chickie chasing time is quite limited. She is afraid that maybe someone DID bite my neck and they might do it again. I don't mind, I'd MUCH RATHER stay inside and sleep in my new Winter doggy bed she got me.
Besides, it's been a bit chilly outside so far this week. Yesterday it never got above 60 and it was only 41 this morning. Brrrrrrrrr.

I got a boo boo!!!

Last night we were all outside for our after dinner outs and Mom was inside watching the news. Suddenly, she heard a terrible scream, she hopped up and raced to the door and looked out but we were all just milling about. She assumed everything was fine.
Fast forward to midnight. We were all in bed and Mom noticed I was sleeping way down at the foot of the bed. Since I usually sleep wrapped around her neck she took a closer look. I was lying there, shaking, with my eyes half closed.
Mom turned on the light and looked closer. She discovered a HUGE tear on the front of my throat, about 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches. The tear was thru all the layers of skin and the flap was folded up, bugging me. Then, she notice my ear was all bloody, too.
Obviously, I was gonna need stitches but it was the middle of the night so Mom folded the loose skin down and taped it down with some bandage and tape. (Actually, she used bandaids since she couldn't find any tape!). It felt better stuck down so Mom put me in Julia's bed so no one would bump me and we all went off to sleep.
First thing this morning Mom took me to the vets and LEFT ME there! Finally, they said I could go home so Tonya picked me up when she got lunch and brought me back. I have TWELVE stitches in my throat!!!!
And, I had to have TWO shots, one was antibiotics and the other was cuz I was coughing after the surgery. HEY, if that vet had only read my chart...I was coughing BEFORE the surgery, too, since I have that silly bronchitis problem. Now I got a shot of steroids and I will have to drink loads and pee loads and I didn't even need them!!!!
It feels okay now that it is stitched up, but it IS swollen and kind of bothers me when I put my head down. Mom fixed up Julia's bed with some soft blankies and pillows and I am camping out there for a few days until it feels better!!!
Anyway, Mom cannot figure out what happened to my throat. Tonight she checked the whole dog yard cuz she thought I must have got it caught on the fence OR a nail and tore it. NOPE, no nails, no broken pieces of fence and no blood on anything. Next, she thought maybe the chicken bit me but that can't be cuz they can't get their heads thru the chicken wire.
So, now she thinks someone BIT ME! She is surprised because she didn't hear any fighting and didn't see any fighting when she checked us after my scream. Toto WAS licking my neck and ears (he does that for some reason and I HATE IT), so maybe he licked a bit too hard? OR, maybe Annie or Zena got jealous and grabbed me cuz Toto was paying too much attention to me??? The puppies could have done it, but they were in the in/out pen and I would certainly NOT leave my throat exposed if they were biting thru the fence!!!
Only I know, and I am not telling!

Thoughts on this and that...

Well, it's been awhile since Mom helped me write an entry in my diary so I decided to undertake writing one myself!!! First of all, my best people friend, Julia, has gone to the Ocean with her friend for the whole week and left ME home!!!!
I did get to spend TWO nights with her, both Saturday AND Sunday and she left on Monday. So, I got to come to work with her Mom and my Mom brought me home from there.
That was the beginning of the end. It is SOOO boring around here without Julia. Momsie and Toto and Beanie are watching the Olympics every single night and so I have to just go to sleep early.
Mom DID bring two more cats home from work. They are a brother and sister, both Orange tigers with LONG hair. They are pretty nice to us dogs BUT they apparently think they have to stay WAY, WAY up near the ceiling. Of course, Mom has all those poodle statues WAY, WAY up near the ceiling so several of them have hit the floor in the last two days, BOL!!!
We haven't been down to the lab pen lately cuz it's too hot to run around and so the chickies have been down there instead. None of us dogs mind that cuz when we finally DO get down there will be tons of chickie poops to roll around in, hehehe! That is so much fun!
Well, speaking of chickies, Mom is headed out to shut them inside and I gotta go along to check and make sure she got them all. Sometimes I have to go down in the lab pen and round them up for her!!!!
