I am getting more and more bored!

Mom took Jenny and Toto and Beanie down to the big yard today. While they were gone down there, she put Pinki and Bubbles outside with Jones. Where was I you may ask??? I was stuck in my crate cuz Mom doesn't want me rough housing too much. Of course it was warm, almost up to my kind of temperature. Now that it's dark and getting cold outside, she has let me out to play. Something is definitely wrong with this scenario, me thinks.
Oh cool, Jenny just found a round ball that lights up when it rolls... she's letting me share it with her. That is almost as cool as that stupid laser light Mom has...she must think we are really dumb to play with stuff like that. Sorry, Jenny, I know you like those things, but... that's my point, exactly!
Well, gotta go claim one of these beds before the other guys get the good ones... it's gonna be a long evening, I can tell.

A nice little area for just me!

Last night Mom decided it was time for me to have my own special place since my babies are gonna come in about 10 days or so. She found a really neat box over at work... it has dogs all over it. She cut a doorway into it, and put it in a pen right in the corner of the living room. Now I get to stay in there all day instead of out with the others. It even has FOOD in it... too bad it's dog food and not people food, I love people food!!!
Mom hung a nice, warm lamp over the pen, and she even got me a heated pad to put in the box. I will be soo cozy that I won't ever want to leave that pen, at least not until Summer comes.
Well, gotta go snooze so I will have plenty of energy tonight when everyone else finds out I have my own special pen. I will need to sashay around so they see me, then take a nibble or two of food, then take my toy into my nice, warm bed. They will be soo jealous!!!!

I went to the hospital, too!!

Mom took me to the animal hospital today, too, but I didn't have to stay there. I was lucky, I guess. I went into a little side room and the Veterinarian squirted some jelly stuff on my belly. It was very, very cold!!! Then Mom put me on a little pillow thing and held me and the vet rubbed a funny thing over my tummy. Well, she immediately said, "look, there's one... look at that great liver!" Mom said she doesn't know what a liver in a not yet born puppy is supposed to look like, but she did see the little heart beating. Then, the vet kept moving the thing around and low and behold, there were two little hearts. The vet said it was very hard to tell if you were looking at the same puppy over and over, but since there were two hearts in view at once, that meant there were at least two. She said they should x-ray me to be sure how many, but Mom was happy knowing there were two instead of just one. She said it's cuz if there is only one, sometimes it gets too big and I am very, very small and it might not fit out me. With more, they will be smaller and will come out fine. Well, I am still thinking there is more than two, but I'm not telling!!! We will all have to wait and see.

Waiting for babies....

This waiting to have my babies is getting pretty old. I am pretty fat, so I can't run around and play, and I am also pretty tired. My belly is so big that I can't even eat a whole meal at once, then everyone else stands around my puppy place and tries to levitate the food right out of my dish. I want to be out with everyone else, but then when Mom lets me out, I only want to go lie down in a bed. Then Toto thinks he has to join me in the bed, so I have to growl at him. Now, I am 5 pounds, he is 18 pounds, so when I growl at him nothing happens. Then Mom yells at him so he goes away. Mom thinks maybe I will have them tomorrow night???? Hope so!!!

My babies are here!!!!!!!!

Hey, everyone... they came today!!! Mom said I was very antzy last night and kept waking her up, so she put me in my box instead of in her bed.... mean Mom! This morning when everyone got up, Mom said today was gonna be the day cuz I was quiet and I had an upset tummy. Well, she got everyone else in and settled and sat down to drink her coffee. She looked over and I was having a contraction! So, the vet had told her to not let me be in labor more than an hour cuz the babies were big and I was small and so Mom was just gonna pick up the phone and call and tell them I was in labor and she glanced over at me and Taylor had her head out all ready!!! So, she came out and about an hour later Tyson came out, but he got stuck!!! His little (BIG) head was stuck right at the neck and he was getting purple. Mom tried to help me push/pull him out but he wasn't moving. She grabbed me, wrapped me in a towel and ran next door to the vet. They pushed him back in and put jelly stuff all over him and he popped right out!!! Boy did that hurt!!! I almost had to bite someone, but I didn't!
Anyway, now they are all happy and so am I. I like having babies!!!! Mom said she would do more photos as they get bigger.

Babies, babies, babies....

Well, the kids are already a day and a half old and I still like having them here. Mom keeps checking on me all the time, and she gives me all kinds of good food to eat. But, perhaps the best thing of all is that my babies have to stay very, very warm, so my little box is always 88 degrees warm. I LOVE to be warm!!!
I am having to keep a very, very close eye on all the other dogs all the time. My maternal instinct tells me that they could hurt the babies, so I have to jump out and bark at them when they are in MY room. Mom says it is pretty strange to hear me bark cuz I normally NEVER bark at all. It does get kind of tiring to have to keep barking so much. Well, I gotta go feed them again. Mom says Taylor is still too thin, so she wants me to feed them lots and lots. But, that works for me cuz she feeds me lots and lots so I can make milk for them!!! Tonight I had some chicken alfredo and fettuccini. Mmmmmmm good!

The babies

Mom and I are very, very worried. Little Taylor is not doing well at all. She hasn't gained any weight since she was born, and tonight she is very quiet and won't try to nurse my milk. Mom took her to the vets yesterday and he said there might be something bad wrong with her inside cuz she was soo skinny when she was born. Mom has been giving her fluids and feeding her special formula with a baby bottle, but tonight she doesn't even want much of that. Tyson is getting bigger and bigger and fatter and fatter, which only makes poor little Taylor look smaller.
Mom said it is sometimes a very sad thing for us to have babies... sometimes it doesn't all work out the way we hope. She said if there is something bad wrong with her it's probably better for her to not survive now than to be a sickly dog all her life, but that doesn't make me feel any better about it. Mom is keeping her warm and comfortable, and I am keeping her real close to me, too.

Baby Taylor crosses the bridge

Last night little Baby Taylor decided it was too hard to keep breathing, so she just went off to sleep. Mom was watching her with me, and we were both very, very sad. But, Mom said it was better for her and also for me and Tyson. Poor Tyson was not getting enough of my attention, now he can have it all. He is very, very cute... after he gets done nursing he climbs up on my back and snuggles in my long hair. I guess he wants to be visible so when Mom checks on him, she doesn't have to search around to see where he is. Mom put a new photo of me and him on my page, check it out.

Well, tomorrow Baby Tyson will be one week old. Already he has enough coat so you can tell he's a poodle. He is getting whiter and whiter... Mom thought he was gonna be cream, but the handler guy said he was white, and white he is! This morning bright and early Mom took him next door to the vets and they docked his tail. Grrrr, I hate that!!! Mom said he flinched when they did it, so she wouldn't let them take off his dew claws. She said it's okay when they are only a day or two old cuz the nerves haven't developed that well yet, but he is almost a week old. She said all these years she had Labs and Frenchies cuz they don't cut or dock anything on those breeds and she hates having to cut a baby's tail off. However, she also wants to show her dogs and keeping the traditions of the old standards is important to her, too. Anyway, the dew claws can stay... they won't show anyway cuz he will have long hair covering them. Supposedly they cut them off so they won't tear off if they get caught on anything when the dog is running in the field. Mom says all these years that she's had dogs she has never had a single dew claw get torn on anything, and she says we all use our dew claws like thumbs when we are chewing on toys and bones, so she won't cut them off. Besides, she has two labs that she got from other breeders and they both have problems from their dew claws not getting completely removed when they were cut off so the piece of bone rubs on the skin, and Toto has BIG scars where his were, so that is another argument for leaving them. Anyway, Tyson wasn't too upset cuz as soon as Mom put him back with me he snatched a nipple and started nursing away. I was scared when she took him away from me, I was afraid he wasn't gonna come back, either. But, all is well now and we are both happy.

Motherhood

Motherhood is fun, but it's getting a bit boring. I am so bored that I had to start chewing the corners off the box that Tyson is in. It's actually kind of fun... the paper on top of the cardboard peels off in little curlyques... they are fun to play with, too.
Tyson is getting pretty fat. Mom says I have lots and lots of milk for just him. Oh well, I don't want him to be skinny, that's for sure. I am having a problem with Jenny sneaking in and stealing my special food. Guess she knows about special food cuz she's had babies, too. Anyway, Mom wasn't putting the snap on the pen around me and Tyson cuz I can't push it open. Well, whenever she went out of the room, Jenny would rush over and pull at the gate and finally it opened and she ate all my food!!! Sooo, now Mom keeps the snap on the gate again. Makes me feel kinda like a prisoner. Tonight Jenny is sleeping and sleeping cuz she ran so much this afternoon. That's a good way to keep her out of my food, thanks Mom!
