Likes:
Sniffing, peeing, car rides, sniffing, peeing, sniffing, sleeping on Mama or Dogma's bed, eating the bits of wet food ontop of her dry food, sleeping on her back with her feet in the air, rooing, eating her monthly heartworm pill, doing yoga with Mom.

Pet-Peeves:
Sophie does not like water. This includes, creeks, pools, beaches, hoses and sprinklers. She does not like to be kept awake after her bed time (9:00pm sharp) and she hates fireworks and firecrackers and thunder.

Favorite Toy:
Her Kong and Kong Dispenser that we won at a shelter fundraiser. She also likes her barking stuffed dog and a greenball her Papa bought her.

Favorite Food:
Sophie goes on hunger strike unless I put wet food on top of her dry food. She also likes cheese, meat and spaghetti squash. She hates all other vegetables.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere in Chico or anywhere with new smells so she can pee on everything.

Best Tricks:
Sophie knows how to sit, go around and lay down for a treat.

Arrival Story:
I was working at the Butte Humane Society in Chico while I went to college there. I fell in love with Sophie, then 3 years old, and tried to get people to adopt her because I was living at a place that did not allow dogs and I thought she was such a wonderful dog. When I took her out, she wanted to stay near me and be cuddled. One stormy winter night I took her home "just for the night." I gave her a bath, cooked chicken for her and let her sleep on my bed. I decided to "foster" her, which meant I was sneaking her in and out of my apartment every day. Finally I decided I couldn't live without her so I found an apartment near a lake that took dogs, adopted her and moved. I sent out "birth" announcements with a picture of us together to let my family and friends know about my new family member!

Bio:
All I know about her past is that she was surrendered from an owner who did not want her anymore. She was 3 years old and had always lived outside in a big junky yard. They fed her terrible food (Ol'Roy from WalMart). She does not know how to act around other dogs when I take her to the dog park. She is a little standoffish and awkward. I think she was not socialized properly as a puppy.

What is special about Sophie:
The most special and endearing thing about Sophie is her heightened sensitivity to human emotion. She is so attuned to the emotions of the people around her. When someone is in pain, angry, upset, crying, laughing or dancing for joy, she picks up on it and goes to the person to offer comfort, sympathy or to share in their excitement. She is the sweetest angel and brings me so much joy and comfort.
