Favorite Food: Anything he can get!!! He LOVES food!
Favorite Walk: Anywhere we take him...loves most local parks as he knows his doggy friends are there to meet him
Best Tricks: He knows all basic obedience commands and is learning agility; tunnels, jumps, A-frame, teter, weave poles, and dogwalk. Knows most basic tricks and is now working on pushing a therapy ball to me.
Arrival Story: We've been keeping in touch with Remi's breeder frequently and also keeping our eyes open for cool min pins. A couple of months ago we went to the breeder's house to let her see how Remi turned out and to see a new litter she just had. The puppies were tiny and not yet ready to leave their mom. We had hoped to reserve one, but being so young we couldn't decide which one we wanted to take...or even if we were ready for another puppy. When I called the breeder about a separate issue, she mentioned that she had one puppy left from the litter we'd visited. We still weren't sure we were ready for a new puppy but decided to look...just in case. If we'd have gone to look at him alone we probably would have passed him by but we brought Remi with us to see how they got along...Oh my it was love at first sight...they ran all over and played like crazy. At that point he was sold. The family was sad to see him go since he was two days away from 4 mos old and they had come to see him as their next sire. But we took him home with the breeder happy to know that he was getting a great and loving home where he'd get lots of good training, play, socializing, affection, and be well cared for.
Bio: The play time between Remi and Captain gave us an opportunity to see how the little guy moved. His movement and his physical looks are totally different from Remi (he has the same daddy but a different mommy). His personality is quite unique as well, again very different from Remi. I thought it would be very interesting to try him and see how it goes. I can see it will be a totally different training approach for this little guy. He tends to be submissive and is very focused on his humans. Cappy has now become an up and coming star in agility...I have high hopes for this little dog.
Today mom took me to be re measured. My AKC official height measurement was 14" when I was measured as a young dog. Mom knew it wasn't accurate because I was not very settled about the whole ordeal. Well over the last couple of years I have become more speedy and am now working toward a MACH (Master Agility Champion) title in agility. Last time we worked with the world team coach she really liked me but we were told that I would have to jump 18" for competing at the international level. Mom's hopes were crushed because she said she would not make me jump that high. The cut off for that jump height vs. jumping 14" is 14". So today mom took me to be re measured...challenging the previous measurements. We did it!!! I measured in UNDER 14" and now am eligible to compete in the 14" jump height at the international level. Mom talked to the world team coach to let her know the news. She will be coming to NY to do a seminar for our agility club in March and I will again get to work with her :) Mom is crazy excited and proud of me.
Mommy took us to a training seminar with the agility world team coach (Nancy Gyes). We weren't the fastest dogs there (though not the slowest either) and lots of handlers were much more experienced than our mommy. Mommy learned alot which helped Remi and I alot. She's got alot to learn. It was my birthday on the day we went and mommy didn't get me any birthday cake or pressies. Now she has no money to get them so we are going to celebrate this weekend...geeez mom. Though I must say that spending the whole day playing agility was a great time and then mommy got sick and spent all day in bed with us on Sunday and Monday. Can't wait for my birthday celebration this weekend!!! Mommy says don't feel bad Cappy cause I'm taking you boys to dog shows on Easter and on Mother's Day so she's missin her days too. Well when you are agility junkies you just gotta adjust schedules accordingly.
Woo hooo we went to our first show of the season this Saturday. I was amazing. Mommy made a few booboos but I was perfect! I was entered in two classes and got first place in both of them! My times were faster than the other dogs in both classes. Mommy says we still need to get faster in order to be able to join the Agility World Team but we will get there once mommy gets herself together LOL. Now I have one "leg" (qualifying run) in both the Standard and Jumpers with Weaves classes. I need to get two more in each class to move up to Excellent level. Mommy says we can do that when we go to our next show in April if we are good. Mommy is taking Remi and I to a seminar this coming weekend to work with the world team coach (Nancy Gyes). She is very excited. Mommy was very happy with both of us this weekend and we got lots of treats and love. We both got massages before and after our runs. We have a massage therapist who did us before our runs and mommy did us again when we got home :). What a great start to our show season.
