I am Houdini dog! - 26-Sept-2011

I have been know in the past to be an escape artist. Mom started with noraml baby gates to keep me in certain parts of the house when us four legged kids are home alone. You know the kind with a diamond grid pattern to them? Yeah, those. Took me no time at all to discover I could easily jump over those. Piece of cake! So next Mom stacked two of those baby gates - one on top of the other. This did not slow me down at all. I figured out I can climb that nice diamond grid. Hehe. So next Mom tried leaving a space between the two stacked gates. That worked for a little bit, but before you know it, that didn't stop me either. Mom adapted again though. Next she found some gates that are 40 inches high and have no cross bars. Now I have to admit those had me stumped ... for a bit. Hehe. I didn't earn the name Pogo-Pip for nothing. I found that by jumping high and higher I could get my front paws hooked over the top of the gate and pull myself the rest of the way. Ha ha ha Mom! You can't stop me. Well, I was wrong. She could. She used the tall gate with a baby gate stacked on top. That has worked for about a year or so ... until today. HA! Today when Mom got home I proudly greeted her at the front door. She first thought she forgot to put the second gate up. Boy was she surprised when she got upstairs to let the others out and saw it still up. She's about just shy of 6 feet and the two gates togehter end at about her chin. She assumes I jumped until I could start climbing the grid on the 2nd gate. She also wonders if this was prompted by a thunderstorm in the area, but I'm not telling her anything. She says she doesn't know what she is going to do with me, but is glad I don't appear to be hurt. Hurt, schmurt. I'm Houdini dog!

Five Things To Do In 2011 -- 03-Jan-2011

Do you have any New Years Resolutions? Not sure if I have resolutions, but here are five things I hope to do in 2011 ...

1. Find ways to get more treats.
2. Take over the middle of the bed.
3. Do away with gates and barriers in the house.
4. Get to the cat's food at least once!
5. Perfect the art of bed zoomies.

I feel number 1 is doable. I've been working on 2. 3 is going to be a hard one. I've learned to get over the gates ... unless Mom stacks them, but doing away with them will take some work. 4 - easy. Just wait until Mom's back is turned, jump the gate and dash across the kitchen and SCORE! I can so do that one. 5 will be the fun one. I will enjoy working on it.

Hehe. What's on your agenda for this year?

Getting In The Holiday Spirit -- 22-Nov-2010

We are starting to get into the holiday spirit here at our house, and in doing so, I wrote a little poem. Hehe.

The pitter patter of little paws,
Tripping round the tree.
Trying to pick the perfect spot
To have a little pee.

The twinkling lights and shiny balls,
All to tempt me so.
But I guess I'd better behave myself
Or I'll be out in the snow.

A gentle swat or snatch and run?
Which is it to be?
Those shiny tempting little balls
Hung all round the tree.

I'll sit and wait and bide my time
Until I see Mom go.
And then I'll have a little fun
And say it wasn't so.

Oh Christmas comes but once a year
And fills my heart with glee.
For what other time of year inside
Do you find a tree?

One by one the years will pass,
And I will slowly grow.
I may lose interest in the tree,
But that's years from now you know.

Mom is taunting me -- 31-Aug-2010

Yesterday Mom kept taunting me. She stood there counting out treats as she put them in a jar, and I could live with that, but do you think she gave any to Cheeky and me? No! I can't imagine what she was thinking. I was right there dancing all around her. I danced, I tried sitting and waiting, I even tried laying down on the floor, but she acted like we weren't even there. All the while she just kept counting, stirring up the smell of treats with each one she dropped into the jar. Ohhhhhhh, she was driving me crazy. Back to dancing around her, jumping up and down, pawing at Mom and my best puppy eyes. That always works, but she wouldn't stop counting. Ahhhhhhh. Finally she did, but the taunting didn't stop there. When she finished with the first jar she pulled out and counted treats into a second one! GIVE ME ONE! When she was done with the second one she put the jar of treats right in front of Cheeky and me and asked us to back up and wait. More waiting?!! Okay. I'll try this because I still wanted some treats. She pulls out her camera and starts taking pictures of the jars! What is she thinking?!! Cheeky and I are sitting there waiting! How long does she think we can control ourselves? There she is clicking away, and there we are smelling treats that are oh so close. Sheesh. Finally she finished with the camera and gave us a treat. I think we deserved a BUNCH of treats after all that waiting and taunting, don't you?

Strange New Things -- 23-May-2010

I have to tell you about some of the strange things Mom has been bringing home lately. First she got this little fabric box. Cheeky and I like to call it the treat box because Mom hands out lots of treats if you sit in the box. Don't have to do anything else, just sit there. Love it! Then Mom made it a little harder. You had to sit in the box WHILE she picked it up and walked around with it. HELLO! What was she thinking?!! I was sitting there you know, and then whoosh, up you go. I tried to get out, but she wouldn't let me until it was back on the floor or the bed. But hey, I still got treats for that. This went on for a week. Next Mom brought this HUGE box home. I mean this thing was big. I sniffed and sniffed it. Then she opened the box and started pulling out various odd looking pieces. I hid behind the chair. Mom called me back out to come sniff the pieces. I did but headed right back behind the chair again. Once she started putting the pieces together and building some kind of monster I decided it was time to head upstairs where it was surely safer. A few times during the process I came part way down the stairs for a peek. Mom called me over each time. Sometimes I would go and check out the progress and sometimes I would just head back upstairs. After a while she finished building her monster. She did something really strange next. She took our treat box and attached it to the monster. HEY! That was our treat box. Why was she giving it to the monster?!! As if that wasn't bad enough I saw her pick up Cheeky and put her in the treat box that the monster was now holding. I watched carefully to see if Cheeky was a goner, all the while thinking I was glad it was her and not me. I saw that she got treats and Mom put her back on the chair. Hmm. This thing can't be all bad if there are treats involved. So I came over for a closer look, and before I knew it Mom had scooped me up and put me in the treat box. I looked around expectantly for my reward and there it was. I was a happy girl and I sat in the treat box, happy for the monster to hold it there while Mom kept the treats coming. Okay, my turn was over and that was it with the monster for the day. The next day Cheeky and I saw Mom take the monster outside and ride it! She was back pretty soon and came in the house, or so we thought. Instead of Mom some transformed version of Mom came up the stairs. The monster had surely gotten her! Cheeky and I barked and backed up!! We weren't going to let that thing get us! But then I heard it talk. It sounded familiar. It sounded like Mom! I carefully stretched out for a sniff. It smelled like Mom! I went closer and sure enough, it was Mom! Oh we were so happy and relieved. Mom grabbed Cheeky and went back out to the monster and they took off. Now I had to wonder if Cheeky was going to come back with a deformed head, too. Poor Cheeky. Glad it was her and not me. Hehe. I was happy and relieved to see them both back and looking like themselves. Whew. Well, I thought I was safe because Mom didn't take me out to the monster. The next day (Sunday) Mom grabbed me and we went outside. I'm thinking we are going to class. That's usually where we go when Cheeky doesn't come with us. I was tricked though! We rounded the corner and there is was, the monster! Mom picked me up and put me in the treat box. It was a little harder to get in it while the monster was holding it. I don't have a lot of room to get in there and sit down, but once sitting I'm okay space wise. Well, Mom hooked my harness to the treat box and I was stuck. Then she got on the monster, too, and we started to move. I wasn't sure about this, but wait ... what was that ... oooohhhhhhhh feel that breeze. I LOVE a good breeze on my face. This felt kind of good. We even passed a man jogging with his dog and I ignored them. I had something better here. We rode around for a few minutes and then went back the house. Mom got me down and I ran around some. Like Cheeky, I hope I get to do that again soon. That monster is all right.

Excitement on the Sun Porch -- 15-Dec-2009

Oh boy did you guys miss the excitement around here. Mom heard a noise downstairs this morning and thought it must be the cats. So she didn't go down right away. A little later she went down and out onto the sun porch and what a mess we found. There were potted plants turn over with pots broken and dirt everywhere. There were decorations that had been on the windowsill that were now on the floor. Both cats had been in the house so it couldn't have been them. Well we were helping Mom check out all the damage and Mom noticed that I was really interested in this one large watering can. She came closer for a look and could see some kind of an animal in there. Mom was VERY glad that I was being pretty careful checking it out. She made us go back in the house though and she took one more look. She could see black and what and maybe some gray. She couldn't see it well and especially after that Mom was afraid to get too close to look. She came back in and in the process I snuck back out. Hehe. Mom went berserk calling be back in the house and away from that interesting smelling watering can. Once back in she called animal control and put us upstairs ... behind the gate. Pooh. She went out another door and around the house to wait for animal control. They didn't take long to get there and Mom showed them through the door where it was and then backed way up and half way around the house. BOL. The guy got it and took the possum to his truck. Whew. Mom was afraid her sun porch was going to STINK for sure if it had been a skunk. Have you guys ever taken a good look at a possum? Mom says that have a BIG mouth that can open really wide ... all the better to bite you with. No more leaving the sun porch door open a crack for the cats. Hehe.

I went swimming -- 14-September-2009

I got to go swimming. Really swimming in water deep enough to swim in. Mom came in with me. She carried me out just a little bit and let me swim back in. We did that several times. I got to try swimming for the first time a few days ago, and did so without the life jacket that time. Mom thought we would try it with this time. I do fine either way, but since she wasn't sure how deep it would be where we were swimming she opted for safety first. Turns out it wasn't all that deep. Can't wait to go again!

Click-A-Trick class graduation -- 01-June-2009

I had my last trick class this evening. For my routine I had to do to pass Mom started with her sitting on the floor and held her arm out to the side while I jumped over it. Then I did a figure 8 around two stools followed by a tight circle then a circle up on hind legs. Then we played patty cake (left paw high five, right paw high five, left paw high five, right paw high five) and ended with shoot and play dead. Then I did a so-so bow. Before doing our routine we had to go out in the store and do at least two tricks for two different people. I got applause both times … when I FINALLY died. BOL

If you got tagged, copy these questions, answer them yourself and tag 6 other lucky pups or kitties!

I was tagged by Walker so here we go!

1. What is your favorite color for Easter eggs?
Hmmm. I'm partial to multi-colored ones, but if I could only pick one color it would probably be green.

2. Would you rather be a bunny or a chick?
I'd have to be a bunny. I love to jump ... or hop around.

3. How many Easter eggs do you think you'll find when you get to hunt them at your house?
Someone was telling Mom they do a meat ball hunt for their dogs at Easter. I'm hoping we can talk Mom into that. BOL

4. What kind of Easter basket are you hoping for?
A very full one.

WONDERFUL FURS I TAGGED!!
Binx
Captain Black
Baylee
Jasper Lucious
Gabby
Edwina
and the last one is... YOU! If you're reading my diary, then feel free to take notice that I just tagged you too! BOL! Have fun!
