Quick Bio:
-pound dog

Birthday:
November 1st 1985

Arrival Story:
We had rescued Gable & his sister Harlow from the pound as tiny puppies. Sadly, we couldn't keep his sister. Gable then became the spoiled only child. He learned his lessons the hard way. He once jumped out of the back of the pickup while we were moving, he was still attached to the rope attached to the bed of the pickup. Kent slammed on the brakes and jumped out to see how Gable was, he was fine but so scared he was peeing. Then there was his 6 weeks on the lam when he ran away while we were out of town for the weekend. We searched high and low until someone saw his 'wanted' poster and reported seeing a dog matching his description running with a pack of dogs in a high school football field, the dogs were living in the creek next to the field. We raced to the high school and began calling his name as we walked along the fence, finally we heard rustling in the bushes and up came our baby. He was buff but stinking dirty. He also learned about skunks by experience. He and Alex got sprayed while they went outside one morning to potty. He was a widely traveled guy. For a few years he stayed in a motel on our visits to Mt. Shasta and went on many RV trips including our very first one. He traveled into Canada twice, camped on the beach at Orick and rode a bus at Niagra Falls, he even went to Disneyland but only as far as the kennels. He welcomed new additions to the family in stride, starting with kitty Bacall, then kitty Spooky and finally Nora and Alex. He survived a fight with cancer and had to endure radiation treatments at a special vet in Berkeley. As he got older he became unable to control his back legs and would collapse or drag them. He tried the best he could but we finally had to make the tough decision that he had suffered enough. The vet came to our house one day in October 1997 and put Gable out of his misery. He died in his daddy's arms.
