I Go to Great-Grandma's 100th Birthday Party!

Hi Everyone!

Well, I have BIG NEWS!!!

My Great-Grandma Bonnie is 100 years old, and I got to go to her special birthday party yesterday!!!

You KNOW how much I love my family and how much I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE parties! Well, THIS one was really special because Great-Grandma Bonnie is ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD now!!! That's LOTS and LOTS of years more than I am!

At the party there were so many things going on that I just kept checking everything out to make sure that I didn't miss anything. My favorite parts were THE FOOD, THE PRESENT-OPENING-TIME and watching everyone TRY to light 100 candles on all the cupcakes.

Here is an important tip if you ever have LOTS and LOTS of candles to light: Buy THICKER and LARGER candles that will be able to burn long enough while you are lighting all the rest. Grandma Cheryl had to keep ADDING MORE candles to the ones that burned down before all the OTHER candles got lit! (I watched the whole event with Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa Rich, Grandma Cheryl, and Grandma Linda trying to get (and KEEP!) everything lit, and I must say that it was VERY, VERY entertaining!

Daddy was blowing out candles that were burning down too far, and Grandma Cheryl was replacing them with new ones. THEN, Mommy and Grandpa Rich were RE-LIGHTING these NEW candles so they could catch up with all the rest! Everyone was LAUGHING, and it was a little like some strange human CONTEST or something! (We doggies wouldn't bother with CANDLES! We would just EAT THE CUPCAKES, right?)

Oh, and the toasted almonds on the tops of some of the cupcakes became TOASTED-TOASTED almonds! Very funny!

Anyway, everything FINALLY got lit and it was SINGING time and then BLOWING OUT THE CANDLES time. Whew! LOTS of SMOKE on THAT one! Grandma Cheryl opened the front door, and I THOUGHT it was time for all of us to go play in the lovely SNOW, but Grandma was just letting out some of the SMOKE.

Crazy thing, all those candles!

Anyway, after EATING TIME, it was PRESENT TIME. I love this part because I am VERY NOSY and LOVE to see what comes out of all the packages. (I had already PRE-CHECKED the packages and KNEW there weren't any dog treats or CHICKEN or anything like that, but I still enjoy seeing what humans get as presents.

Great-Grandma Bonnie got LOTS of new clothes, and she got LOTS of books. She got some HUMAN TREATS like candies and cookies and some LIFE cereals.

Her last present was a very special one that Daddy and Mommy have been working on for awhile. One of Daddy's students has a Great-Grandma that turned 100 a few years ago. For HER birthday their family made a special memory book for her that had letters and cards from all the people that she knew over the years. Daddy thought that was such a nice idea that he decided to make one for MY Great-Grandma Bonnie. (My Great-Grandma Bonnie is HIS Grandma.)

In the new pictures I added today you can see Daddy sharing the BIG BOOK with Great-Grandma. There are over 100 cards and letters in there! Many of Daddy's students wrote letters to Great-Grandma, too, because a few years Daddy did a video interview with Great-Grandma Bonnie, and Daddy shows it in his psychology classes each year. His students feel like they KNOW Great-Grandma Bonnie!

I also added MY letter to Great-Grandma Bonnie! (My practice writing all my diary entries here on Dogster have helped me to be able to compose a very nice letter using all the skills I learned here!)

It was a VERY busy day, and a VERY fun day! I decided to take a little NAP because I was WORN OUT with all the day's events!

Come check out the pictures of Great-Grandma's special day in my Photo Book!

Happy 100th Birthday, Great-Grandma Bonnie!

I Write In Honor of my Good Friend, Gypsy Belle Today...

November 1st 2011 6:30 pm

My good friend, Gypsy Belle, has left for The Rainbow Bridge. She had time to celebrate her fifth birthday on October 1st and was feeling good. Several days ago she wasn't able to walk anymore, and her Mommy took her to the doctor.

The doctor discovered that Gypsy Belle had a very fast-growing cancer in her leg.

Gypsy Belle had already had surgery on her back several years ago to repair an injury she got as she was playing. She came back from her surgery very well with physical therapy and wonderful WATER THERAPY where Gypsy Belle became an AMAZING swimmer.

Gypsy Belle's Mommy and Daddy knew that they did not want Gypsy Belle to suffer through any more surgery. They did not want to amputate her leg.

I love you, Gypsy Belle, and I honor you today and always as a brave German Shepherd Dog!

I wish you many happy swims in Heaven and lots and lots of CHICKEN!!!

Love,
Saphira
