Pepper loves everyone and like Murphy she especially loves kids. She is very gentle.
She does not want us to see her do her business, very modest!
Pepper wants any toy one of the other dogs have.
She loves all food, especially chicken!
Anywhere as long as she is with us!
Pepper doesn't really have any tricks yet. She was a kennel dog so she is still learning things.
Pepper went to the Rainbow Bridge on March 5, 2012. We miss her so much!
Pepper is our Murphy's mother. We adopted her from the collie breeder (Aries Collie Kennels) when she was done being a mother to spend her retirement years with us and her son. She was always such a wonderful mother to her puppies and has an excellent personality. We are all in love with her especially Murphy. Pepper and Murphy are always together. She is a sweetheart.
I am a sable merle. I may not the perfect show dog, but I was always such a good mommy and I had several litters of puppies before retiring. Then I moved in with my son and his family.
Sure is nice to sleep inside when the ac is on in the summer. I still like to find the sunshine coming inside and sleep in it but I like the cool air a lot!
Love me, love me, love me!

I wrote a story about how I would like to win a pretty fabulous new food bowl and you'll never believe it, but I won!
Here's my story!
Boy would I ever love to have a pretty bowl like that!
In December 2007, I moved from my home where I’d lived for 8 years. It was a happy place where there were other collies like me. I got to be a mommy several times because I really am a sweet girl and take good care of my babies until they find wonderful homes of their own. Daddy put me in the car to go to this new home of mine and I was a little scared leaving, but daddy told me I would be loved and would be living with one of my grown up babies! It was Murphy! Well, that first couple months were kinda rough, I had to go to the doggie doctor and got fixed, although I didn’t know I was broken. I had an owie on my tummy for a while and had to take some pills but I got some peanut butter with them and that is darn good stuff!! The doc also did something to my teeth that made them all shiny and slippery but he took a couple of them away for some reason! And the tooth fairy did not even come. Then I got poked with an owie making thing a few times. I don’t why they gotta make owies on me but I did like the doctor man and the ladies there were very nice!
In my new home there was a lady and a man and my son Murphy, of couse, and also a funny little dog that looked like she could be one of my collie puppies but she acted older than me and the lady kept calling her a sheltie! Go figure! Her name is Peanut. She’s kinda bossy & crotchety for a little thing but I really do love living there so I let her believe she is the boss of me. The lady is my momma now and the man is my daddy and I love them so much! And I get to play and play and nap and nap! They put me on something called a diet and I was extra hungry for a while but I’m used to it now and feel really perky! I go for walks and love to meet people and kids. It’s great!
I have but one complaint, and since I love my home so much I’d feel ungrateful if I told my momma about it. But I feel safe telling you people. You wont tell, will you? I hope not!
Here’s the deal. My food bowl is just too small for my big girl mouth, it’s very hard to eat my yummers out of it. I am the last one to finish my yummers and it’s not becasue I am not hungry. I’m hungry all the time! It’s just a lot of work! And, of all things, it says “KITTY” on it.
Now I’m not a book learned collie like my son Murphy is, but I just know that is NOT MY NAME! I’ve seen my name before and it doesn’t look like that! I think that “KITTY” is something that goes sneaking thru the field next door that we doggies love to chase and bark at. When we bark, it’s so funny! They go running licketysplit back home to a house close by! They smell too and I don’t trust those sneaky things!
Murphy’s bowl is big enough for him and it says “DOG” on it and Peanut’s, well, she is so little and her bowl is the perfect size for her and it says “DOG” too.
I try to imagine that “KITTY” is really something good but I am not fooling myself very well. It’s really kinda embarrassing!
Please pick me to send one of those fancy pretty doggie bowls to!!! I would have no complaints at all if you did. I will dream of a pretty new bowl tonight in my sleep instead of chasing rabbits.
And I promise to be a very good girl!
Thank you ever so much! Pepper
Mommy said one of these days a delivery guy will be bringing my new bowl to me! I will try hard not to bark at him, I'd hate to scare him away before he delivers my bowl, but it's gonna be hard! I'm so happy! I don't have to eat out of the small "KITTY" bowl much longer! WOOF!

I knew it would be a special day because mommy brushed me before she left for work and I saw her put some of my cookies into our back pack. That pack means we are about to go on an adventure!
Soon after mom left, daddy took me, my son Murphy and little Peanut out to do our business and then he put our travel blanket in the back of the car! This means a ride! All 3 of us doggies started getting excited!
But then he put Murphy & Peanut in their crates and hooked the leash to my collar and just the two of us went in the car. Strange, I thought but I'm up for any adventure. I just hope we're not going to that doggie doctor again. He made an owie on my belly and made my teeth feel slippery & white. Not quite sure I liked that.
Oh well, off we went in the car.
We finally stopped and daddy opened the back door and said "Come on Pepper, lets go visit mommy!" Woo hoo! I get to see mommy at work!
Mom works at a credit union and I got visit with all the ladies at the counter and in every office too! So this is where mom goes everyday. She smells like this place when she gets home so now I know~!
Then off me and daddy went again.
Turns out we went to visit our Grandma who lives in a place with lots of old people.
But this wasn't an ordinary visit, it was a special day and there were lots of other dogs there!
We all went to this outside room with grass called a courtyard. All the old people sat in wheely chairs and us dogs and our owners stood in a line.
They gave each of us a pretty bandana to wear with a number and our name on it. Mine said #5 Pepper! Then a lady talked REALLY LOUD on this speaker thing! Kinda scared me at first but then it was ok. Must be these old people can't hear as good as us dogs. So when the loud lady called a dogs name, it's owner would walk it around in a big circle then come back and stand at the end of the line.
She called number 5 and me and daddy did our walk. I wanted to stop and let all the old people pet me but daddy said not now. That's ok. I was happy just to be there.
Next the loud lady said they were going to tally the votes while we got a special treat! I didn't care how long she took cut I got some fabulous beef icecream! It was so yummy! Got it all over my face too but daddy made me pretty again. Boy that was some great icecream!
Then the loud lady talked again and called 3 dogs and their owners up.
Everyone clapped and cheered but they didn't call me or daddy. Daddy bent down and said "I guess we didn't win, sorry girl". I kissed him so he would be happy again. I was happy even though I didn't win.
Then the loud lady said "And BEST IN SHOW goes to........number 5! Miss Pepper!" And boy, people really got loud then! They clapped and cheered and we got to walk around in the big circle again. I was so happy I did my happy walk and wagged my tail a lot and this time daddy let me stop and get petted by anyone who held their hands out to me. I put my head in their lap (some were kinda smelly) and they gave me lots of love and hugs and they all smiled at me. Then they had me stand on a big step and took my picture. I also got a bag full of special treats but mom said I can't eat them all at one time and I must share with Murphy & Peanut too.
I had the best day! Daddy said this was just a for fun dog show.
It sure was fun! And I have a little trophy too that says "2008 BEST IN SHOW, Villa Maria dog show!
What a great day!
