Arrival Story:
My ex and I both really wanted a doggie in our lives, so he made several trips to the pound to check them out...I couldn't go unless I knew we were coming home with a dog that day. Too heartbreaking! One day he called me at work and said, "There's one you have to see." So off we went, and we both fell in love on sight. There was crazy Zoe (named Chelsea at the time), barking in excitement along with the other dogs, but completely oblivious to the human presence outside her cage. Her focus was entirely caught up in pushing her over-turned metal bowl around and around her cage in circles, barking loudly all the while. When we were finally able to stop laughing for a second, we adopted her on the spot. The seven years since has been a crazy, ball-throwing whirlwind of pure love and fun.

Bio:
Zoe now lives happily in Ottawa with her mommy and stepfather, where she spends her days anxiously awaiting her next walk or trip to the cottage. Ooooooooooh, can't wait!!!!

Something strange is going on. Mommy & JoeJoe brought a tree in the house last week, and there's all this good-smelling stuff underneath, but whenever I take an interest, they shoo me away.

I know they're hiding something from me in my favourite treat closet, 'cause there's all these new smells that come wafting out whenever they open the door....but they won't let me in to see. Something about waiting for Santa...?

And now they've got bags packed. I hate it when that happens. I always go into a super depressed funk when they pull those suitcases out, but this time I'm hopeful. They're not being extra-specially attentive to me like they usually are in the days before they leave me behind. They're acting pretty normal and excited, so I think there's reason to hope that I might be going too. Wherever it is. I don't care. I just want to go.

Ooh! Update! Mommy just packed a big bowl full of my food and treats and put it in the car! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! That means they're taking me with them! This is the BEST Christmas ever!!!

Merry Christmas, everyone....and Happy Time Off to Spend with your Doggy Companions!

ooh yeah, good day

Today was a really good day, a reeeeally good day. Yeah, it was hard to get mommy and Papa JoeJoe out of bed, but I did manage to do it.....the key is to let out a really heavy sigh with just a hint of a whimper....not enough to make them yell at me, but enough to let them know that I'm quite the martyr, letting them sleep in even though I'm suffering selflessly and (almost) silently down on the floor. It works like a charm.

When they got up this time, really good things happened. They put on pants, which is my absolute favourite. Chances are good things are gonna happen when they put their pants on...it's 50/50 that they'll take me with them, wherever they're going. I can barely contain my excitement from that moment on.

We got in the car and went for a reeeeally long drive. We stopped at the Tim Horton's drive thru, where the nice people sometimes give me Timbits as treats through the window. It helps if I stand on JoeJoe's shoulders and stick my head out the window so they can see me. I hate it when they forget to give me treats! Today I got some. Whew!

After that, we were on our way for a really long drive. I ran around the backseat, crying to let mommy and JoeJoe know that they were driving by a lot of good greenspace that I'd be perfectly happy to run in, but after they yelled at me to stop, I laid down and tried really hard not to think about the unexplored countryside passing me by.

Eventually, we pulled up beside a really big mountain, I think it's called Luskville Falls, and I was soooooo happy. I remember this place! I'd been here before, but all the smells have changed! Oh, joy is me! The only problem is that some other dogs must have come since, because I had to pee everywhere to reclaim everything in the name of Zoe.

We climbed and climbed and climbed. Mommy and JoeJoe were really slow, and they kept stopping and breathing heavy. They're so lame....I mean, c'mon! I've been up and down the mountain three times now, running ahead to see where the path leads, then going back to tell them about it and hurry them on....but they just can't keep up!

We had a good time, and I must admit that even I was a little tired on the way home....I could only stand with my head out the window for a few minutes, and then I had to take a load off. It's not 'cause I'm getting old, though....it's probably because I didn't get enough sleep yesterday. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's all it is.

I learned a new game, and I want to play it all the time. It's so fun! Mommy sits at the bottom of the stairs and I stand at the top with my ball. I have this thing where I have to chew it at least 17 times before I can drop it (don't ask me why), but once it's all good and gooey, I know it's ready to go. I drop it on the first stair, and it bounces slowly to the second, then a little bit higher and faster to the third, and then even higher, and skips the fourth and fifth, hits the sixth with a good strong bounce, and - ooooooo it's so exciting! - finally it reaches the bottom where mommy sits!

She grabs it and squeezes it and it lets out a squeaky squeezy noise and I get really excited. I love that noise! I get into position, ready to defend the top of the stairs. Mommy launches the ball back up, and I SPRING into action and grab the ball out of thin air. Nothing gets past me!

Mommy squeals and congratulates me, and I looooooove the praise. Now it's time to start squeezing and squeaking and squeezing again. Sometimes Mommy dries off the ball before sending it back - you just can't teach people anything - so it's time to goo it up again and get it ready for its next bouncy ride. The fun never ends!
