Pet-Peeves:
Peridontal disease and pet owners who dont care for their pets teeth. Kidney disease is her other pet peeve, phoey! Dr. Zira also does not like larger dogs sticking then face in hers. She is fine with other dogs but would rathe rbe left alone.

Arrival Story:
I was on a quest for a monkey dog, but I didnt want a puppy. I looked on petfinder and emailed lots of rescues but there were no appropriate brussels or affenpinschers anywhere. I was almost giving up when I emailed a brussels breeder in NJ to ask about older adults. Low and behold: Dr. Zira's breeder, who runs a boarding facility, sold her as a pup, 8 years later the women who bought her, brought her to the facility to be boarded and left here there. Zira's breeder cared for her and was going to have her remain with her for the rest of her life, living in her home and in the boarding facility. I called her to ask her if she had any older adults for adoption and while she was not willing to place her younger adults in any home with other dogs or with people who worked she told me abotu Zira (called Samantha then) who was free and needed a good home. About her name: Dr. Zira is named after the female ape in planet of the apes who was a human psychologist. I wanted her to have an ape name since she is a monkey dog.

Bio:
Zira is a wonderful and loving dog. She lives to cuddle and tummy rubs are her passion. She is not too into tricks or long walks. Zira has kidney disease but it is in its early stages and with a careful diet of lower phosphorus (innova senior, merrick campfire trout) her bloodwork has returned to normal. She is a very hesitant eater and needs to be hand fed all her meals. If her bloodwork gets worse we will switch to a home cooked diet. Zira has made me a definite fan of the brussels griffon and I plan to have one.

Today I went to the Canis Minor Pet parade, the store where I get groomed every 6 weeks (I hate grooming), in Pavonia New Port. I was a geisha girl and looked super cute in my costume. I walked very far, for me, about five blocks around down by the water and back to the store. I got so many compliments and we got free treats I really liked. It was fun!

I had a great time today at the NNJPE (norther new jersey pug extravaganza) pugsberry bake off party. There were tons of treats and I tried them all. I visited with nice people and pugs and was very well behaved and I looked great too courtesy of canis minor grooming. I had a nice new scarf and a nice new hair cut. Mom was proud of me because I was so brave and social.


Long walk--for me

Mom is so proud of me-I went on a 40 minute walk in down turn jersey city and I only had to be picked up and carried once. I usually stay home because I cant do the long walk in liberty state park that my siblings do. But mom decided to take me out wiht Norbert when she and Dad where taking him to practice rally o. We also got ice cram, I dont like ice cream though, but Norbert got a vanilla soft serve and he liked it a lot.
