Arrival Story:
Jack's mom got brought into the TJO shelter in Springfield. Once they figured out she was pregnant they put her in a great foster home with Jane. It was a really difficult birth and of the 14 puppies only 7 survived and one only has 3 legs (She is the coolest puppy!). I do a little work with Great Dane Rescue so I thought I would look them over and see Jane needed any help or anything. Well, Jack is a really wierd color for a Dane he is a fawn merle mantle, which really does ot happen to an appropriately bred Dane. So I started getting really nervous (he was the only one in his litter of this color who survived) and I was afraid he might develop some health problems and who knows who he would have ended up with, if they would have been prepared to see him through potentially significant congenital problems. So I scared myself into getting him. He was such a quiet, calm little puppy. Well, that only lasted for about 2 months - now he is a total lunatic. He loves to run down the stairs jump up against the wall opposite the stairs and propel himself through the air at whoever may be unsupectingly standing nearby. Yeah, he's totally healthy and insane!

Jackson has two brothers that he thinks are really pretty cool except they don't want to play enough. He loves to play with his littermate Ella and his friends Arizona, Umi and Kazi. Jack thinks he is the center of the world and tries very hard to squeeze his brothers out of the way.

Well, this has been an interesting week! It all began last Tuesday when we all went on a long drive and ended up at the house of my cousins Leroi(lab mix) and Bebe (Chihuahua). There was another dog there who kept on trying to climb on top of me. I was like "dude, lay off" but he wouldn't then Willy kept on trying to climb on top of him. Then we all got in trouble and got kicked out into the backyard. The next day mom brought me, Rufus and Willy to this place that was really noisy. There were a bunch of other dogs there, some of them were up on tables! Even I know you're not supposed to do that! So mom was talking with the people and the dogs were all barking at us. Then, youre not going to beleive this, mom tricked us into going into the place where all the other dogs were by pretending to walk in there then turning and closing the gate before we could figure it out. I couldn't beleive her. There were so many dogs I didn't even know where to put my feet, and there are only so many times you can say "Oops, sorry" before it loses meaning. Finally Rufus showed me where mom was. Standing on the other side of the counter talking away. Rufus and I stared at her, we whined at her, I even tried that play growl she thinks is so funny, no dice. Then someone grabbed Willy and took him away, I tried to follow but the gate got closed on my face. Then he started barking. I listened closely to hear what he was saying over the sounds of the other dogs, "A Bath, Its a Bath! Save yourselves!". I ran back over to where mom was and begged and whined but she still ignored me. I heard Willy holler "oh No not the Dryer!" I did the only thing I could think of. I took a flying leap at mom. She looked pretty surprised. What I forgot to take into consideration is that the counter is 4 feet tall and 2 1/2 feet deep and very slippery. I managed to clear it just enough that my back feet touched the counter, then I fell and slid off the counter, bringing with me several display racks and lots of paperwork. I wasn't hurt, Luckily I didn't land on one of the yorkies or Shih Tzu's that were hanging around. Mom looked at me, tilted her head and said "You are one crazy crackhead". She left a few minutes later. It wasn't really that bad. They have a nice tub where you don't fall and the water is warm and every body was really nice to us. But there were too many dogs for my taste. Rufus says it's cause I am a country boy. He grew up in the city, he says it's always tight quarters in the city. Mind you when mom came to get us he was standing right next to me hiding behind Auntie Karen. Then we got to go to New Hampshire and play in the woods for three days and we ate lots of turkey. The End, Bye bye

What a crazy day

So we woke up and things wer normal. Peed, pooped, ate breakfast then headed back to bed with my brothers while mom went to school. When I woke up later mom wasn't back yet, and I really had to go to the bathroom! I didn't know what to do and I had to go and she wasn't back - so I had an accident in the bedroom. But mom still didn't come home. Finally when it was starting to get dark mom came home and let us all out to go potty. But she clearly wasn't planning on taking us to the park, which is a total bummer. Then mom went and got in the water sprayer thingy and then gave us dinner. I was getting ready to do my nightly bug the brothers until the door opened and in came my friends Umi and Kazi! I was sooo happy! Me and Umi played for like 2 or 3 hours! It was so fun, I want to do it again. So the day wasn't too bad. I'm tired now, gotta go. Bye!

So, um, my name is Jackfun, um I mean Jackson. I like to jump in the air and chew on stuff. I haff 2 bruders, Rufus and Willy. They don't like to jump or chew on things, that kindof stinks. But we all like to go for long walks in the woods and that is a lot of fun. Acctually Rufus does like to chew on one thing - me. but I kind of like it too cause sometimes when he is chewing on me he is just giving me what mom calls love bites or nibbles. I have a lot of friends who we go play with all the time. My friend Donut (his real name is Arizona) loves to run and jump and wrestle and play. Sometimes he plays dirty though and grabs my tail and pulls me down, then he barks at me to get up. Mom says it's cause he's part shepherd so he's herding me. I have no idea what this means but he sure can be bossy! I also have a friend Umi. He likes to run and his mom always brings a squeaky ball for Umi and his sister Kazi to play with. They are a ton of fun (and Umi doesn't bite my tail or ankles which is nice).
I have a lot of toys. I really like them. I have 2 different kinds of rubber balls and they each bounce differently so sometimes I can't decide which one to play with and I get confused. I also have a cool rope ring toy that mom plays tug with me with. We have lots of bones, big ones that taste great! and Mom gets new ones all the time. Sometimes I get to go to school or to the store with mom which is pretty cool cause everybody wants to meet me, and I want to meet them too! There are 2 cats and 2 birds in my house too, but they never play with me either, but I will keep trying to get them to play, I think the little bird really wants to wrestle. There is also this wierd creature. It is long and thin and it makes a wierd noise. kind of like the cats do when I try to play with them too much. Mom puts it on her shoulders or hands and just walks around like that. I don't know what it is but I don't think I trust it. Maybe it will play with me?
