Been A While...

Been a while since I wrote in my diary so guess I better get caught up. It's been a hot summer, but at least I gots my pool. I'z quite a swimmer and swim with Mom a little while most days...someone has to be lifeguard for her:) Don't know what she'd do without me.

Another of my jobs is cleaning Daddy's shirt front and his whiskers and face. He is the sloppiest eater you could ever imagine. I mean it would be embarrassing if I wasn't there to clean him up and make him presentable.

And then there is my bib cleaning duty for da Gramma. She spills stuff on her bib when she eats too and I have to clean all the big chunks off before the bib goes in the wash so we don't clog up da washer machine. Just think of all the maintenance expense I am savin da Momma by cleanin Grammies bib. Gee, I must be worth my weight in gold at least!

Finally there is the tricks... I'z learned quite a few tricks this year...sit, twirl, give paw, jump up on a chair or anything and then sit or twirl...of course I only perform for a treat ...they are a great motivator. Mom wants me to learn down but I haven't really mastered that one yet. I am short enough as it is, I don't really like going lower...I mean it's hard to reach for a treat when you are laying down. Doesn't really seem very sensible to me??? I guess I'll learn it if Mom insists, but she's gonna have to work for that one. Hehe!

Well, that's about all for now. Can't wait for fall to get here! I just love having all four seasons. Gives a pup something to look forward to all the time.

Don't tell the other dogs but...

I heard Mom and Dad talking and they was saying how they can't imagine what life would be like without me! Little old me! They are so glad they got me and I was that spark of life that they hoped I would be when they decided to get a new puppy. Now I don't want the other dogs to be jealous, but, what can I say. I'z always gonna be da baby even when I'm old and gray, at least dats what Momma says...I'z always gonna be her baby. Oh yeah, life is good!

Swimming Pool!

We gots a swimming pool! It's above ground so da only way to get in is from da deck and Mom and Dad put a gate so I can't get up there unless they are there with me. They also got me a life vest and today was the first day I got to use it. Boy was it great! I just jumped in and away I went chasing leaves floating on the water. Mom kept thinking I was getting tired and grabbing me and setting me back up on the deck but I was having a blast and would jump back in. It was a great way to spend a really hot afternoon. It got up around 1o0 degrees here today.

Mom says she's going to take some video of me swimming and put it on my page but she hasn't done it yet. Boy I wish all my furiends could come and swim with me. It would be so fun.

Spring is in da air!

It was almost hot today! All us dogs was hangin out outside takin it easy. I got kind of parched and hot so I started pwayin in one ob da water bowls. I had my front feet in it and was pawing wif one front leg splashing da water all ober. Den I came in da house and got water all ober Mom.

Later we all went on our evening walk down to da cweek and ob course I hads to go swimmin wif Red. Den I had to run and jump on Mom's leg and to share a wittle ob da cweek smells and wetness wif her. I know she appreaciated dat. I'm always good about shawring, well, unwess it's food, and den I has to takes care ob myself. Mom can see she is goin to habs to get me a wittle pool for up at da house since I wikes water so much. Wonder if she'll gets me one wif a slide. Hey Mom, I want a slide in my pool!

I can swim!

Well, it finawy happened. I fewl in da cweek! Mom was walking da whole pac down by da cweek and I was runnin and sniffin wif da big dogs and Mom's not sure if I got knocked in or if I just got too cwose to da edge. Mom saw me just as I was goin under water. She rushed to get to me but I was aweady part way up da bank by da time she weached and pulled me on up. Hey, it was notfin. I just bounced right on up and kept goin like nofin happened. I didn't even shake until we had moved on a bit. Den I shaked and mom got hold ob me and twied to use her coat and gwoves to dwy me off. Da water was code but it was pretty warm outside today so I wasn't code.

Beavers!

Oh boy! I'z just found out we gots beavers (whatever dey are) down at da cweek. Mom's been takin us all for a walk down by the cweek in da evenings and we saw where dey had been chewin on da twees and twyin to make dams and we could smell em, but we couldn't ever find em. Mom says dey is killin all da twees along da cweek and dats not good cause it's da woots ob da twees dat holds da bank from washin away. She can't figure out why dey twy and cut down da weally big old twees. Dey chews da bawk off all da way awound and deen dat kiwls da twee.

We also found wots and wots of deer poops! Yummy! We was all snackin as we ran along. Well, all except Mom and she just kind of looked at us and shook her head. We didn't see any deeries either. Guess dey heard us coming and took off before we gots dere. Too bad cause I wanted to chase one.

Oh how wonderful it is to be a farm dog!

The Creek!

Woohoo! Yesterday was such a pretty day here dat Mom decided to give me some exercise and let me go wif her down to da horse pasture since da horses was shut up by da barn and I would be safe. Lexie was wif us and I was runnin and havin a good time and den Mom decided to weally get adventursome and go out ob da horse pasture and into da bigger pasture where da creek is. It's weally overgrown and I had to kind ob bound my way along but it was sooo coool. We went all da way down to da water and I got to go into da creek. Whew was dat water cold. I didn't mind when it was just on my feet but when I stepped into a little deeper and it got up on my tummy I decided to jump on out ob dere. Mom was watching in case she had to wade in and grab me if I got in too deep. Dere was so much fun stuff to smell and I got to run really fast and chase after Lexie. I'z weally a big dog now dat I'z been down to da creek.

Mom says I'm gettin fat!

Humph! She should talk. I finks she needs to go wook in da mirror if she wants to see fat. I'z just gettin muscular. Dat's what it is. I finks I'z da picture of health and vitality. She better not twy puttin me on no diet. I don't do diets and I'z gonna make dat perfectwy clear. NO DIETS MOMA! Is dat clear enough.

May I pat myself on da back, I habn't pottied in da house for a whole two days, not eben a poopoo which is what I habs da most twouble wif. I hasn't peed in da house for quite a while a fact dat Mom is weally, weally happy about. Maybe i'z finawy growing up.
