Birthday: December 19th 1996 Likes: Chasing the neighbor dogs up and down the fence, chasing his kitty syblings whenever he gets the chance, and sleeping under the covers with me. Pet-Peeves: When one of the cats steps on him by accident when he is under the covers. Favorite Toy: A fleece pink piggy. He has had 7 or 8 but he get just as excited about each replacement. Favorite Food: Anything canned. He gets dry dog food regularly, the canned food is a treat. Best Tricks: Benny is not big on tricks, but he will sit for treats. Arrival Story: I got Benny as a rescue from the Dallas-Fort Worth Basenji Club. His previous family was moving somewhere they could not have a dog. I drove to Dallas to pick Benny up and fell in love with him immediately. Benny was 18 months old when I got him so he has been in our family for 10 years. Bio: Benny has had a couple of health scares since I have had him. i think he got into some poison a few years ago and I really thought we were going to lose him. Fortunately with good vet care and a special diet for several months we nursed him back to health.
Then a few months ago several nerves on the left side of his face became temporarily paralyzed so that he could not move the right side of his mouth or close his right eye. This made it impossible to eat his regular dry dog food. Fortunately with medication he has completely recovered. All of this has made me appreciate and love Benny even more.
