Dear Diary and friends,

Although we have not been on much in a bit, we are so sad to hear that Dogster is closing the pages soon. We have made many friends here and have loved seeing photos, diaries, pages, and everything from all of you.

You were here for me when I was learning how to be a service dog, becoming an official service dog after I learned so much, saw me through some terrible health issues with constant ear stuff, allergies, and this stoooopid cancer. I keep hoping that Dogster will change their minds about closing.

For my health update, I am still officially in remission after my two month checkup on Friday. We take it one day at a time and keep faith that I will stay in remission for a long time.

If anyone wants to keep seeing how I am doing I do have my very own Facebook page that is current and I invite you to stop by if you are on there:

https://www.facebook.com/BinxServiceDog

And dear Dogster, won't you be able to find a way to let us stay on here......

Thank you all for always being here for us, we will miss you. :-(

Love, Binx and Binx's mom

I Had My Last Chemo Today!

Dear Diary and friends,

Today mom and I took the day off work and after 5 months and 20 days with 17 chemo treatments of 5 different chemo meds, I had my very last one today!! The Dogtor said that he was very happy with how good I've done through this whole treatment and now I have to get a blood test every 4 weeks to make sure I am still in clinical remission. He said that lots of doggies go out of remission and have to have a second treatment (not the same one that I just had, though) and many doggies stay in remission longer after. But I'm hoping that since I was in remission so early on that I will stay that way for a long time!!!

I am feeling a little yucky tonight and trying to get a good comfy spot in the living room, but haven't found one to stay in long. I think I will poke my nose at mom so she will go in where the comfy pillows are in our room for the night, even though it's not even 7 pm.

Nighty night!!

Love,

Binx

Happy Thanksgiving - We Have SO Much To Be Thankful For!

Dear Diary and friends,

Happy Thanksgiving today! Mom said that when I got sick six months ago she was sure that I would not be here for the holidays when I first was diagnosed. But after so much help from SO many I got to have all my treatments and am here and doing really great today. I just found out that my last chemo will be a week early, too!!! It's December 6th and all done, hopefully for a long time! I will be all recovered just in time for Christmas!

Mom and I were talking today, ok, she was talking and I was listening and agreeing anyway. We have so very much to be thankful for this year. We graduated college, got a good job working with people that care about us a whole lot, have lots of people in our lives in person and online who care very much about us, the family is all healthy and good, and I get to still be my mom's partner and doing really well.

Now, we are not having the big turkey dinner today, though. We are having it on Saturday when the family comes over since they have to work. Mom has been doing some Christmas decorating, she got that big tree that goes in a box out and put it in front of the window.

Oh, and a special SHOUT OUT to Dogster for picking me as one of the Diary of the Days this week, ARRROOOOOO!!!!!! Thank you :-)

Ok, off to do a little snoopervising and see if mom needs any help with the tree in the box stuff. Have a pawsome day everyone!

Love,

Binx

Chemo is almost over!!

Dear Diary and Friends, I'm real sorry I've been away so long and not updated. My typist and I have been super busy at work and I've been to the Dogtors often for the chemo stuff and checkups, we are really tired lately! Mom said she feels like this year with all that has been happening that we have been on auto-pilot mode or something....

Anywho, I have one chemo this coming Tuesday before Thanksgiving and then one last one on December 13th and I would totally appreciate some doggie prayers that I get to stay in remission for a long time to come after!

I lost a whole lotta fur, mom says it looks like there is another Sheltie hiding in the house sometimes, haha! Don't worry, I'm not naked or anything, just super thin fur right now is about it. Mom said not to worry and that will start growing back in no time, kinda like when my allergies made me real sick a few years ago and my fur had to come back then, too.

For Thanksgiving we are having the family over on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving day. By then I will feel all better from the chemo on Tuesday. What are your plans for Thanksgiving???

Oh, and mom said that when we leave work Tuesday this week we don't go back until next Monday, we get a little mini-vacation, arrrooooo!!!

Hope you are all doing pawsome too and Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

Love,

Binx

Week 4 Chemo Update - BIG NEWS!!

Dear Diary,

Yesterday was Friday and it was my 4th chemo. The Dogtor is VERY happy with how good I'm doing mostly! He even said that I was in a clinical remission, not total yet since it's only been a few weeks, but that darn cancer is on it's way outta here!! My heart rate is too low, though, BOO! It was only 44... I have to take a little more of my thyroid meds to see if that helps, but will have to have my heart checked soon.

Today I'm feeling a little tired from my chemo yesterday and I'm off the clock at home with mom resting comfy today. Next week is the last of the new chemo meds and it's gonna be a doozie they said. Mom has been keeping the blog updated with more mom stuff about it if anyone wants to pop on by and take a look. There are pics there, too, from yesterday. Mom is totally smooching my fluffy face off in one of them :-)

Chemo Number 3 and How I've Been Doing!

Dear Diary,

I went for chemo number 3 on Friday after mom and I heard huge super loud BOOM noises from those yucky fireworks until 2 in the morning and then we had to get up for work at 6. BUT!!! No fireworks since then so far, WOOOT!

Anyway, week three of chemo was with the third of four different medicines and I am doing super pawsome with everything so far!!! I have not been sick yet at all. Sleepy sometimes, but mom and I stay home all weekend so I can snooze away if I want to. The Prednisone is down to half a pill a day now and mom started giving it to me at 2 am when she wakes up to take me outside and by the time we get up in the morning I am all good! Mom said that I am totally back to my spunky ruckusy self now, arrrroooo!

The Dogtor can't feel any lumps at all anymore on me and my blood tests have been normal the last two weeks, isn't that so pawsome! They all think I will be listed as remission really soon. I will still have to do the whole 6-months of treatments even when I am in remission or I might get sick again and we cannot have that!

As for the funding, mom has not heard back from anyone she tried to contact. But the college sent an email out to everyone that works there and people have been helping. Also, our friends and family has helped a lot, too. I already have half of my treatments paid for. Oh, and even on Facebook someone set up an auction for me. Mom and I are so overwhelmed by everything that everyone has done. Oh, and she set up a blog that she updates about all of this. She hopes that someday someone who is going through this with their fluffy one might find hope there, too. Here is the link to this weeks update and there is a picture of me getting my treatment in there if anyone wants to stop by:

Off for now, mom said we're spending time in the yard doing stuff today, yippeeeeee!!!!!! See you all real soon and have a pawsome Sunday :-)

Binx

I Had My First Chemo Treatment...

Dear Diary,

Yesterday mom took me to the Dogtor and I had my first chemo and drug therapy. It was a shot of stuff for this first one and the Dogtor said the others that I have to have will be an IV. I am not sick at all from it, can you believe it!

Oh, and the Dogtor said that my large lymph thingies are getting smaller already from me taking those yucky Prednisone pills all week AND my blood test numbers are better, ARRROOOOO! He said that since he really likes how good I am doing and he expects that as long as I keep going to my treatments I will be in remission in no time!!

Mom sent emails to a bunch of places to see if she can get help paying for this stuff and has not heard back yet. Today she sent a bunch of letters out, too.

Anywho, that is the update for my first week. I still can't believe this is happening....

That's all for now, see you soon!

Love,

Binx

Binx is Sick....

Dear Diary,

I know that mom and me have been so busy with working and everything else we do and have not been on in awhile and not sure how many will see this because of that. But wanted to let anyone know who is still following me that on Monday mom got a call at work from the Dogtor and he said I have lymphoma cancer. Mom did not take it well AT ALL.... We went to a special hospital on Tuesday called Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Maitland Florida and they told her that it was true.... again, she did not take it well AT ALL... The Dogtor said that there is a 0% chance of cure for lymphoma cancer, BUT!!!! There is a better than 93% remission rate, WOOT!

It all started about two weeks ago when I was not acting like my usual spunky self. Mom took me to the Dogtor to have me checked. My blood test numbers came back not good. He found lump thingies on me and took tests to send away. Mom said she knew there was something wrong.

I started some pills called Prednisone that day, they wanted to start my chemo that day but mom did not have the money for it. She is scared about not having enough to pay to make me better and has been really scared and upset. Anyway, she came up with enough so that I could start my treatment and today was the first one. It was not bad and I did really good. The Dogtor said that since I started those yucky pills earlier in the week that my lump thingies got a little smaller and my blood work was a little better. My Dogtor said that if I am able to keep with my treatments for the next six months that he completely believes that I will be in remission in no time, can you believe it!! Mom said she is not sure how she is going to do it, but she said she is not ever giving up on me because we have a whole lot more to do as a team still!!

Anyway, just wanted to let my old friends know in case anyone is still following me. I hope that you are all doing really well and I promise to keep you posted. Mom said that with this awful scare that we are finally going to start taking down time much more often since she said life is just too short to be so busy and so serious. Stay well my friends and I will talk to you soon.

Love,

Binx

Dear Diary, OH MY DOG, after 2 years and 6 months mom got two degree thingies in the mail, ARRROOOO!! She said that we are only taking a couple months off before we go back to finish her third one and boy oh boy are we liking weekends right now! Oh, we have to go to some great big thingie and wear those goofy hats with the tassle thing in May she said. She said that it might even be on tv!

Soooo, I've been getting to run, run, run, bark, bark, bark in the yard after work lately since it's been light when we get home from work, I LOVE that!

Mom planted lots of veges and fruits in tiny tray things on the porch so we can try a garden this year. She even planted one of my faves, cantelope, yummy!

Right now mom is making me fresh Binxey Biscuits in my treat maker machine. This time they have pumpkin, oats, cranberry, apples, and a touch of coconut and oh my gosh does it smell delish in the house!

Gotta scoot to the kitchen to snoopervise the treat making right now and bark at you soon!

Love,

Binx
