Well, I graduated! But have hip problems...

I graduated novice obedience training with flying colors! It was looking pretty iffy because I wasn't cooperating at home since I was having some pain in my leg that I had seen the vet for recently. But once it was time to shine in front of everyone at class, I did great! Unfortunately, my leg kept bothering me and I had to go to the vet again for xrays. The used anesthesia because I wouldn't let them examine my hip very well with it hurting. When I got home I was still a little loopy. The xrays of my hips turned out alright *whew!* but there is obviously an issue since I am walking funny, turning it out, and won't squat long enough to empty my bladder...then I leak. It isn't old age arthritis, I'm only 2 years old about. Now I am strict rest for 3...3! weeks, it's only been 5 days and I'm already going crazy and making my mom crazy too. I also have to take some anti inflammatory pain medicine and a couple of supplements for my joints, bones, muscles. I already feel better and am emptying my bladder and want to run after bunnies SO BAD, but I'm not allowed. :-( I'm hoping to be off this rest in time for Bark in the Park in mid May. I went last year, got to stay at my uncles and hang out with my cousin Sasha and go to this park with 1000's of people and dogs. I hope I get to go this year.

Learning new things

Well, I'm about 3 months old now and I getting used to my new people and surroundings, and I have been learning many new things. My people call what I am learning 'manners'; I just like the beef jerky that comes with it. I have practice twice a day. So, far I have learned 'Gretchen off', 'Gretchen come', and 'Gretchen sit'. Although, I am a smart girl and independent too, so I decide when I want to these things. Sometimes I just look at them and do what I want to do. Next in my training I will learn 'stay', 'down', and 'shake', 'sit pretty', maybe even 'roll over'. On my own, I have learned that I LOVE water- I have webbed feet, cool, huh? I LOVE plastic to chew on and tearing apart magazines. I have learned that when I go into my room at night it is time to sleep and my people come for me in the morning. I like having my own room. My doggie friends have taught me some things, too, like how to do a perimeter check. In case you don't know, that is when you put your nose to the ground and sniff all around the yard. We stop to eat bugs or mark our territory occasionally. I love my new people, but sometimes I frustrate them with my sharp puppy teeth. I am still working on not pressing too hard when I play and I am making some progress.
Everyday I learn new things, because everyday I get so much bigger that I am able to reach all kinds of things on tables and chairs. I still haven't figured out the stairs. The people and other dogs go up and down so easily, I simply can't coordinate my legs. Someday....
