Arrival Story:
Luka has been introduced to 2 other homes before we met him. The first family bought him from a pet shop to satisfy the kids and realized a puppy was more work than they had imagined. Lucka (the way they spelled it back then) was then adopted by the owner's sister, who was at home due to her pregnancy and thought he was oh-so-cute. Unfortunately for him, family #2 had 1 baby on its way + 2 very young children, so the parents never managed to show him basic obedience and good manners. By the time he reached 11 months old, family #2 got exasperated with all his digging in the back yard, his acting like a hurricane in the house and destructive chewing behaviour. So I answered to a classified ad posted on the web that say this dog was for sale. I realized later that if I had not bought him, he was going to get euthanized. So we took the challenge of raising and correcting the manners of the adorable and smart berner who was only asking for love and acceptation but had no former limits or boundries to respect. We chose clicker training techniques to teach him new tricks and keep him stimulated and introduced him to discipline and order. It was a radical change for him but I believe he is much happier now that he understands the rules he has to go by and knows our expectations.
