Arrival Story: In early '99, I noticed an ad in the paper; someone was selling Border Collie pups for $50 each, without papers. I had some Christmas money left and we were off to go and look at the babies. I'll never forget how five round-bellied, 4 week old pups came tumbling out of that shed door. I picked out one of two males, a shy little tri-color with a sweet, laid-back personality. A Mama's boy for his dog mother, and a Mama's boy for me after I took him home. A simple story, really, but Murray was the first dog I ever had to call my very own, and raise from a puppy. I hadn't quite reached my 15th birthday when I brought that wriggly black puppy home with me, and he will always hold a very special place in the hearts of all those who knew him.

Bio: Murray was a very sweet spirit, and we never had any real trouble with him, as far as his manners and behavior were concerned. He had a full (if not a bit short :-( ) life that he enjoyed on our 4-acre mini-ranch, and has had lots of fur brothers and sisters as well as a small flock of Shetland sheep and a few horses for company. Soccer was his favorite game, followed by a good rough and tumble session with Strider, his fellow BC. He could always sense what sort of a mood you were in, and was a source of comfort for me through many tearful and difficult times. He also knew how to make us laugh, and at the end of the day, he would always gift us with the look. You know the one. The one of complete and total trust and admiration. It says that they couldn't pick someone better than you to be their human, and that they would do anything for you. My only regret is that Murray was only 9 when he went to the Bridge, but they were 9 very happy years.
On July 1st, we drove Murray to the vet's after noticing he was having difficulty breathing and kept coughing and gagging. We suspect that he had bloat or possibly heart failure. Upon arrival, he lay down by the door in the office and his breathing grew shallow. I stooped down to check on him, and he didn't respond when I called his name. I took his head in my hands to look into his face, and with one final breath, he slipped peacefully away from this world. We are truly heartbroken and Murray is missed very much, especially by myself, and his little furbrother, Strider. We look forward to meeting him again one day in our mansion in the sky.
