The Life and Times of Boki, a basset puppy

So much has happened since the last time I wrote here! As you can see from my updated pictures, I'm hardly a little puppy anymore. I had my first burfday in May. My burfday is the same as my Mom's!!!

The foster doggie I talked about in my last entry did finally find a home, but it sure took a long time. Like six months! We had really gotten used to having tghe grouchy old lady around and kinda missed her when she left.

Mom and Dad ended up getting something they call a vacation house that they took me and Molly to. (Oh, and the foster doggie we had at the time, Boomer) The house is at the beach!! We had so much fun exploring and running around the new house, doing the Basset 500. Cept the new house has these floors with no carpeting - - mom said something about hardwood floors or something?--that we slid around on pretty good, especially around corners. We get to go back down there in a few weeks!

What's up with her?

So Mommy and Daddy are involved in something called basset rescue. This is a really good thing, cuz it's how they got ME!! But all I know is that it means that there's this parade of strange dogs in and out of my house. It's usually fun - I like meeting new playmates!

But we have a guest now named Maggie, and she's not very friendly. Oh, she'll cuddle up to Mommy and Daddy and get all of the loving she can. She's a real snuggle bug with them. But I tried giving her a good sniffing when she first got home - and she growled and snapped at me!! Can you imagine, snapping at ME??? Humrffph! Then, she even snapped at the old thing - my big sister Molly! OK, sometimes I may get a little puppy-playful, but there was NO reason to snap at Molly! Last night, Molly and I were doing the Basset 500 around the living room, and part of the course is banking off the back of the couch where Mommy was sitting with Maggie. I guess I jumped a little TOO close to Maggie, cuz she went after me again! Molly and I have decided we're just going to steer clear of this one and not try to play with her anymore. I think Mommy is going to tell the nice basset lady that Maggie needs to be in a home where she's an ONLY doggie!

But so far the New Year is ok. It's kind of rainy and cold here. I think I want to go back to Grandma and Grandpa's in Arizona to run around in the yard and feel the sun on my back!

What a Christmas!

WOW! It's been a long time since I wrote in here. Let me tell you about my VERY exciting first Christmas. We took a long, long trip - all the way from NJ to Arizona to visit my grandparents! (My mommy's daddy and stepmommy!) I wasn't too happy with the airplane flight, but boy did I have fun out there! Grandma and Grandpa are real doggie people. They raise these funny looking things called Boston Terribles. Oops - I think that's Boston Terriers? They have SEVEN of them! I sure had a good time chasing them around and showing them who the boss was. Well, ok, sometimes they chased ME! Grandma and Grandpa have TWO doggie doors, and I learned to use them pretty quickly. They have one out to a side fenced yard, and one out to a back fenced yard. We had sooooo much fun streaking in one door, around the house, and out the other door!!!! They have two doggies, Angel and Peggy Sue, that I got to be best buddies with.

Christmas Day Grandma had a paw print stocking for me, loaded with all kinds of goodies - some new toys, a few chewy goodies...YUMMY! And I didn't even have to share! We stayed in a travel trailer that Grandma and Grandpa have, and I got to take all of my stuff back to the trailer all for ME! Then Grandma and Grandpa had a bunch of people over for dinner. Most their friends from a Boston Terrier club they belong to. They were nice, but they kept saying I was a funny looking dog! ME??? I have ears, a snout and a tail!! Those black and white things are funny looking, not ME! But they made a big deal about it, and a couple of pieces of turkey found their way under the table to me!

I did miss my big sister Molly. She's older and she's had a couple of seizures, so Mommy and Daddy didn't want to make her fly, and then get attacked by a mob of unruly Boston Terribles. So she stayed in a kennel at home. :-( But she told me she had a good Christmas, too, and we had some goodies for her when we got back. Its nice to be home playing with her again.

I sure to missed the big fenced in yards and the doggie doors, though. I can't wait to visit Grandma and Grandpa again!
