Arrival Story:
Lucia is a lucky shelter dog. The shelter I volunteer and foster with is easily overcrowded and some dogs will spend months there trying to find a forever home. Lucia is one of 20 dogs that will be going to a shelter up north where dogs spend an average of just THREE DAYS looking for forever homes. The transport program requires that all dogs be healthy. With our maiden transport, some dogs got sick with kennel cough just days before and couldn't go, and it was also too late to replace them with other dogs. So to not do a disservice to the dogs chosen for the transport, they are being sent into foster care about 2-3 weeks before the transport to make sure they stay healthy both physically and mentally. So Lucia, unlike many of my other fosters, is a perfectly normal dog. She will be with me until July 24th.
Bio:
Lucia is SO SO sweet. SO sweet! She may be a border collie mix but she is quite content to be a couch potato. She had some mats on her when I brought her home but she fell asleep on the bathroom floor as I worked them out. She hated her bath, but got over it and sat in my lap as I dried her with a towel. She is very, very good with other dogs. Her tail is always thumping. She can sleep in a crate at night. No accidents so far. She loves to chase tennis balls. She has had a litter of pups before. She has a slight overbite. She can be a little bit timid but she is so friendly, and is very stubborn about wanting to get into your lap. What a good girl! I love her! She's going to be someone's great girl.
Shiloh:
Shiloh's Arrival Story
Shiloh was being fostered by a friend of mine for the same reason I was fostering Lucia. However, she was going on vacation and would miss the transport date, so I agreed to take Shiloh so that she wouldn't have to go back to the shelter. She is 5 years old and is one of the few survivors of a hoarding case. She is timid but very, very sweet.
