Talked to Nancy last night. She's all for Darcy to come to us -FOREVER! Now it's just a matter of transporting. We're very patient and will do what it takes to get her here!! Promise!! There's so much to do - get her raised bowl station made, put her crate back together, buy her a new pillow and food - can't forget the food!!

Nancy (owner of the rescue) said she still won't come to anyone on her own. That the only person she ever came to when called was me. Gotta love that!! We're gonna start from the beginning with training but it will be alright. She's gonna be safe with us - forever!

Can't wait to see her again!!

Mom just read that I got Daily Diary pick!! Wahooo!!!

I won't make my trip until October - scheduling issues. But it's alright - I'm not in danger. The rescue loves me. However, I can't wait to head north - just hope to make it there before it snows!! So far mom and dad bought me new bowls and dad made me a new bowl holder, new collar, leash, crate, bed, some special toys and chewies!! Mom went and bought my food, both can and dry, so when I get here she can start hand feeding me again! Mom can't order me a coat until she gets me in to measure me!! Pretty exciting - just need to get from point a to point b and my life will be forever in Western PA!! Thanks for reading about me!! Just remember "special needs" dogs need a home to - we'll love ya furever!! ;)

Well I just got word last night that the rescue in LA is flying you to Allentown PA!! How exciting is that? I'm heading to NJ for a night and then I'll pick her up at the airport!! We're so excited!! The best part is she arrives on Tuesday, which I will have to take a sick day for, then I'm off on Wed/Thur. Which means I can get her settled in no-time flat!!

She's almost here!!! :)

We arrived at the airport at 6:00pm and they were already there!! The arrived at 5pm. We were told 7:30pm. Not a bad thing to get in early - EVER!! Shuge (now Lexi) was in Darcy's crate and Darcy was in a mini-van with 6 other rescues in crates. She saw me pull up, looked a 2nd time and her tail started to wag!! She has NEVER done this!! :) So I got her collar and lead and went to the van to get her. She was really happy!! It was amazing how she was acting!

My friend, Jackie, followed me up from NJ to see this whole event go down. Boy was I glad she did! The other rescues left and I had an extra collar and leash that fit Lexi. She is soooo adorable!! Her tail did not stop swaying the entire time we were with her!! Called her foster dad and he was on his way! I gave him directions in from the highway and he said that he was driving a convertable Audi! What??!! Lexi made it BIG TIME!! Imagine from a Kill Shelter to a convertable Audi!! Her foster dad, Terry, was such a great guy - he's a 'houla owner from way back!! Loves and adores the breed!

So Lexi left with her dad, Jackie went back to NJ with a big 'ol grin on her face and Darcy and I headed west - home. We had a few stops along the way for stretch breaks. The last 2 hours I didn't have a vehicle behind me at all. Saw lots of deer - prayed they wouldn't jump out in front of me. And finally pulled in around 1:30am.

I let Turner out for his meet and greet. He heard something and immediately his fur went up. He was on high alert! Darcy came out of the truck, freaked and scared, ignorning Turner - Thank God!! He kept sniffing her and was trying to read a negative reaction from her but she gave him none! She was wagging her tail at him as well. So I walked her around the house and then around the yard a few times. We finally went to sleep around 2:30 after Darcy ate and finally drank some water.

Got up around 7:30 and just opened up her crate door and walked away. Turner and I went outside, I left the door open, and she came out to inspect. Luckily we are very country and all was quiet - no airplanes or traffic noise here! She sniffed quite a bit, did her business and went back to her crate.

I gave Darcy a bath and trimmed her nails. Took both kids for a walk - no problems. It was like old times!! Came back, fed them both and chilled out for about 45 minutes. I was vacuuming and heard Turner bark, peaked around the corner and there was my reactive pit in a play-bow enticing her to play! Which off course they did!! It was zoomie time in the house!! Now were at naptime and all is well.

Big Howdy to Cain for saving Shuge (Lexi) she is beautiful and will definately have a wonderful life because of you!

Thank you P.A.W.S. in Woodville, TX for saving this girl - God smiled on Darcy when you rescued her! Thank you Duncan, Tiller and Southpaws Express for everything that you guys did (like put up with me)! Thank you St. Tammany's Humane Society for holding my girl before transport and taking such good care of her!! And of course, thank you Pilots and Paws. You were the last leg in her journey to get HOME!

And so her forever life begins.... her with us. :)

Check this out....

Well it was my first day alone with Turner yesterday. Mom and dad went to work. I got to play outside - gotta love doggie doors!! Lay in the sun and hang out on my bed/blanket outside... Not too bad of a life.

Once again, I was up to my antics - I'm known as a theif. I went into Turner's toy box and took out all the cow hooves. I put them all around my bed outside. When mom came home Turner showed me how to greet her with a wagging tail and smiles!! While mom was inside I was outside chewing the cow toes!! Then I heard - Darcy wanna go for a walk!! Shoot yea!! So I ran in and there was mom with my leash in hand. I trotted right on over to her with my tail up and waggin. This has never happened. Well mom was in shock, but she clipped the leash and away we went.

Dad has been walking Turner so mom can help me along. I did great until a neighbor down the road made a noise. Then I tucked my tail under. Mom got me to calm down and I was fine!

I'm coming along so much faster than last time. Mom and dad couldn't be prouder of me!!

Calming Cap

So mom fed me and Turner this morning and we both ate no problem. This is fantastic! Last time mom hand fed me for 9 months!! We went for a walk yesterday and 4 vehicles passed us on the road. I was fine!

When mom and dad get home they close all the crates up and I have to hang out with them. I pace for a bit but then go to my pillow and watch them. Mom is going to take me to town for a walk around the lake next week. There is a short trail and a long trail. We're gonna start slow until I calm down.

Mom was thinking about Calming Caps and wondering if I may respond to one. Not to sure. She used and Anxiety Wrap on me last time and that did help. She feels the Calming Cap with limit the stimuli to my eyes and may help me. She's gonna check it out thoroughly and we'll see.....
