Arrival Story: Very long story. 5 months before we brought Angel home, we had a friend that was leaving our house and accidentally ran over our baby Toy Rat Terrier. She was the sweetest dog that I had ever had, wonderful with our kids, loved everyone, infact, thats why she was by the car, she would always try to jump in friends cars to go bye bye. We were heart broken, and couldn't even think of getting another dog after that. I had rescued Nikki from a puppy mill, and I thought I would have her forever. I think I cried for a month.
Anyway, one day I decided that my kids had bugged me enough, and for 5 months now our house was so lonely because it was the first time since my oldest daughter was 2 that we didn't have a dog in the home. I started looking on the petfinder web site to rescue a dog. I really didn't have a preference, just knew I wanted a loving female, that was great with children, and I had a 9 month old so there was no way I could do that house training at this time. I found the add about angel, it said what breed she was, that her owners had handed her over because of a relocation, and that she was in a foster home, and had been for about 6 months. The guy said she was great with everyone. She was wonderful with his daughter that was 12, and he also had grandchildren that she was wonderful with also. He said he looked like a minny golden retriever, and we had a yellow lab for 6 yrs. that was just wonderful, so I thought that it sounded great. Well, I went that night, drove 65 miles to get her, got home at 11:00pm, and she was great all that way home. My sister in law, and neice went with me. She did fine in the truck, and when we got home she wanted to love on the girl right away. Boy were we in for a long week though. I had never rescued an adult dog, only puppies. She didn't like male's.

Bio: When my husband woke up the next morning, she backed right away from him a growled at him. She did the same to any male that would come over to the house. She was wonderful with me, all the girls including my 9 month old, but any male that got even close to her, and she would back away and growl. I thought great. This went on for a week, and my husband is not scared of dogs, but timid to them. He was not liking this. He said he thought that I was gonna have to give her back. The girls just cried and cried, they loved her, and so did I. I prayed please Angel, just calm down. Finally, after about another week she got used to the hubby, (after about $100. worth of beef jerkey and lots of doggy treats...lol) Another month or 2 and she was the most lovable dog there was. She never growl's at anyone anymore. My youngest is now 2 and she can play with Angel's teeth and the dog doesn't care. She is the best dog in the world and I am so glad that we didn't get rid of her. She loves to go bye bye. She has never had one accident in my house. She stays right close to the girls when they are outside, has to be with them at all times outside, like a little babysitter. She is so calm, never wants to play. We were told she was spayed, and I had never asked the vet, but that was a lie, she went into heat last yr. and on Nov. 5 she has a litter of 7, on my grandfather's birthday. She was the most wonderful mother. Our neighbor dog, who is a purebred white lab got her before I even could stop it, and they all looked like labs. She is now fixed. We kept the only little white female thinking that maybe Angel was lonely, but she still doesn't like to play, she's just a lover and a lazy mama...lol. Lily, her daughter, is a wonderful dog. She got alot of her mother's traits. She is very smart, and lovable, and took on the tolling lazyness, she's not real hyper like most labs are. They are both spayed now though, so no more puppies. Boy, that was work...lol. I think that Angel is the best dog in the world, and then now I have her daughter also, who is turning into being another wonderful dog. I couldn't imagine my life without them. They are just like my kids.

This week I was not understanding my mom when she kept keeping me in the house while my kids were outside playing most of the day. I think she meant well because it was so hot outside, and inside its nice and cool with the air, but she finally figured out after I paced the house over and over that I HAVE to be outside with my kids when they are outside. I worry so much if I am not right there with them to make sure they are ok. Anything could happen, and if I'm not out there to make sure they are safe, I feel like I am not in my place...lol.
Finally she figured it out, and let me outside. I watched them play on the slip and slide, joined in a little when they made me, not a water lover...lol. But, I made sure I was watching every one of them, my girls, and my boy nephew's. It makes me happy just to watch them having fun. I think mom gets it now...lol. She better not make the mistake of locking me inside again while my kids are outside without me. They need me.
